I am sure that there maybe other posts out there that answer my questions, but I have been searching for days now and no luck. Hopefully someone can point me to the right threads or give me some insight.
History: I have a 95 SER that I blew the motor on. The oil filter came loose and poof went the motor. I was planning to do a GTIR swap anyway, but this just speed up the process. I bought a GTIR with full wire harness, ECU, and MAF. My mechanic has already removed the old motor and I am just waiting on my clutch to drop in the new motor.
Questions:
1. Since I have the entire wire loom, ECU, and MAF, can I not do away with the SR20DE loom? I am bit of a novice so excuse my ignorance. The way I though of it, was that I would yank out the old loom and replace it with GTIR one?
2. Is it better to use the stock loom with the new motor and get the stock ECU reprogrammed? Or is it better to use the full GTIR setup?
3. I understand that using a piggyback computer will have its advantages later on, but for now, I just need the car to be up and running. What is the shortest route?
4. I am being told that I need to use a resistor pack for the fuel injectors impedance? IS this correct?
Again sorry for my lack of knowledge, but ifanyone can help or just point me to the right threads that can help, I will appreciate it much....Thanks.....
