And the verdict IS....

#4 is bad.. spun bearing from over-rev.. so yeah.. the block is okay but not the crank.. stretched... done...

How did it not scatter the valvetrain though?

Did you check the cam timing as well? Sometimes, the chain will jump some teeth when revved high on a tired tensioner. Speaking of which, make sure you have the updated tensioner before removing the chain guard above the cam gears.

We have the updated tensioner in a box ready for the replacement engine (updated was already on this engine) but this engine is getting mothballed.. only thing is we are moving accessories over to the replacement engine (things like power steering pump and, pulley, harmonic balancer, etc.)

...meanwhile this engine will get mothballed for a while until we get to that point of time on our hands to disassemble and rebuild it (which could take years!)

...besides, considering the low cost of replacing the engine with another used one, this one may never be more than furniture -- haha

Well, we are getting closer to install time..

Today I picked up the resurfaced flywheel, fedex delivered a brand new clutch kit AND I picked up the engine:

well, had some work to do on the weld repair.. still working on it now but it'll be a nice repair and work nicely in the end...

It's amazing what weld repairs can do for broken mounts off engine blocks these days (and it helps to have a cousin at a machine shop who can weld aluminum):

Just a small update..

Not only did the car run at the NASA Autobahn Country club event last weekend BUT it set a NASA TTE time trial record on the south track Saturday (getting 1st place) and then re-set it with lower time on Sunday in TTE and got first place AGAIN! Track time for TTE was 1:43.077 if anyone cares.

So this is a success story this time around!

thats a damn good time.

when redline was at autobahn last month my buddys evo at 350ish whp got 1st in stock and 3rd in street overall.

he was running a 1:40.4 consistently all day.

considering this thing is NA its a very good run.

excellent work

more pics and updates please :)

..and right now we have August 15th scheduled to get a baseline dyno to find out just how pathetic (er, I mean how much mean WHP) we have ;) so I'll post back accordingly!
