well, for now it sits waiting for a replacement engine (thanks to an OOOPS missed shift TWICE scrambling the engine rendering it useless)....

Competed in Time Trial for the first time with NASA in October 2008 and set a track record in TTF at Autobahn full course
Competed again in NASA Time Trial in June and again set TTF track record at Grattan
Decided to compete in TTE to have more cars to compete with and got 1st place at Grattan.
Competed in TTE at Blackhawk (didn't even bother with TTF despite it being allowed/qualified for TTF) and got 3rd place Saturday and 2nd place sunday despite the missed shift and scattering the motor...

STAY TUNED

Canceled a few track days to allow weekend time to install replacement engine..

Goal of going back to Autobahn South Track July 18th and 19th with NASA and run in TTE or TTF (not sure which yet).

Done!

I'm curious, is there a cage in there? I don't think I see one...?

no cage..

we honestly never intended to let it get this far along (original intent was to just have an extra cheap disposable track car but now we have about $6k invested so yeah)...

We probably won't be going with a cage and will either part out or sell the car in fall or spring to be honest because the car we are concentrating on for a PTE and ITA (w2w car) is a b13 fully caged shell we have (from AZ)

Today the engine removal process begins:

in case anyone wanted to see how the solid aluminum motor mounts looked on the crossmember now that we removed the engine for the swap:

..and it didn't take them much longer to remove the trans and get the engine up on a stand:

well, so far they found a little bit of brass and burnt metal pieces removing the upper and lower oil pan but no telltale sign YET of what exactly is broke in there....

chris101

wierd stuff..

#1 rod bearing looks fine.. no metal pieces there... ..just normal wear...

..starting to suspect the oil pump failed..... car ran about 20 seconds with zero oil pressure before being shut off so I dunno...

How do the other bearings look? I think it's usually #3 that goes.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/ibiduc/2001sentra238.jpgThat's scary, one slip and it'll all come tumbling down. I prefer using the engine hoist to pick the chassis up.

well.. not #3 anyway...

We still suspect the oil pump and the tabs broken off from the overrev resulting in no oil pressure but we'll see....

In case I didn't mention it before, the oil was NOT silver (no evidence of spun bearings) when draining it...

Anyway.....

Here are photos for everyone to see:
