: Need More Brakes
Nismo91ser 09-07-2002, 01:26 AM I have a 92 classic with the nx2000 big brakes. Also have slotted rotors on all fours, with EBC green in front an metal masters in the rear. I checked my braes today after about 1 yr and the front are needing pads..but the back are BRAND new. How can i get more braking power to the rear??I hate the noise diving feeling and i feel the car stop alot better if i use the ebrake while stopping(not yankin the e-brake) thanks
FastRedB14 09-07-2002, 01:38 AM too much rear braking bias and under hard braking your rear end will come out. upgrade to an altima master cylinder..aren't those supposed to have a different proportion valve with more rear bias? inaddition to needing less pedal pressure.
Try another brand of brake-pads first.......
I have used EBC Green-Stuff on three different cars, ranging from Honduhs to a Saab, and the results were horrible. In ALL occasions the rotors warped, and the initial bite was terrible (I am 100% sure I did the break-in procedure correctly). I talked to those Australian guys at the SEMA show, and they basically told me tough-luck and I should try their Red-Stuff instead.
Since then I switched over to Porterfield R4-S compound and I cuss everything I heard the name "EBC". Everything went fine from then on and I am living happily ever-after.
CarbonBlack200 09-07-2002, 05:01 AM I think you can do the Maxima rear brake upgrade. If you can get someone to drill holes on Maxima rotors to make them fit on your SE-R, everything else (calipers) should be direct bolt on. I would try the stainless steel breake lines too.
I have EBS Green stuff pads on "Fast Brake" Wilwood Calipers. I noticed they make nasty noise all the time and smell kindda funny too. They made nice black tint on my wheels too. I don't really like them and I am definitely getting something else next time.

I also have the same exact setup... These pads make noise anytime i stop. The only way to get them not to make noise is to slam on my brakes. I think I'll try some wilwood poly. d or porterfield r4-s.

I have the Poly D and they are broken in well now. They are ussually quiet and pretty dusty but I hear they all are. They modulate well also. They do prefer a little heat but a OK when stone cold. I might try some pads some higher heat range pads fot the track. Doesn't MaddMatt work for Carbotech and didn't he really like the Panthers before he worked for them also. I can't remember and the search button on my computer is broken;)
Spaceman Spiff 09-08-2002, 01:35 PM remember guys, maxima rear brakes bolt up only to B14s. B13 owners can't use the maxima rears without major modification.
brian at fastbrakes send me a EBC GREEN STUFF box, but it has RED STUFF pads inside. noisy pads, barely working in cold. i'll be changing them out soon.

eliterit 09-08-2002, 07:59 PM i use metal masters on the front and stock on rear. no squeeks from the metal masters but my rear stock pads squeek. A week after i got my pads i had a carload of people and i was cruising through a neighborhood and the biggest dalmation dog i had ever seen jumped across the street inches close to my car. Slammed on my brakes, tires didnt screech and stopped right in front of the dog. My friend riding in the back said "Badass brakes". I only wonder if i had my stock pads i would have hit the dog?

You use the calipers from a 93-94 Maxima SE, the early
and later calipers are different and won't work. This
caliper bolts right on and the brake line and parking
brake hook right up.
You can use the redrilled rotors that KVR sells or SMC
has rotors that are made with the proper bolt circle.
SMC's number is 949 369-5223.
On a B13 you end up with a 10.5 inch or so rear rotor.
Or you can get the JUN big brake kit.

greendot 09-09-2002, 03:17 AM i have had my brembo x-drilled rotors with stillen sport pads(bought everything from stillen) with steel brdd lines for about 1.5 years now with over 45k miles driven on it, the pads still look good, about half way worn. i'm very happy with 'em, but too much brake dust on my wheels. consider stillen sport pads, i think they call it the matrix? not sure.
Spaceman Spiff 09-09-2002, 03:31 PM this is the first time i heard about it. good info mike.

98sr20ve 09-09-2002, 04:02 PM www.fastbrakes sells the redrilled rotors also. Shoes59 has the maxima rotors on the back of his car. It really is no big deal the maxiam/sentra years match up (ie:95+ 200sx use 95+ Maxima, 91-94 Sentra's use the 91-94 Maxima Brakes). I bought the redrilled Maxima Rotors for 55 a piece or something like that.
