: Wade's race video - Hyperfest Saturday
Got a good start then got passed by Scott, Todd, Darron, and Dave. A few of us were pretty close together for awhile. Dave, here's your video of your rear wheel lock ups.

Stephen, looks like you got some bumps in on the Death Racer!
d15b7 07-06-2009, 05:41 PM nice vids, wade!
i always have to be super cautious, especially on those long sunday races not to kill my front tires.... when i was chasing scott for all those laps, i was conciously thinking about not spinning up the inside tire, and 'opening the wheel', and not overdriving the car. my car, at my weight really needs the 245-45-16 tire, so i have to really 'baby' my 225's....
the one good thing about the toyo RA-1, besides its longevity (guess that's gonna be two things! ha!), is that it really seems to be able to stand up to the hot, long runs, as long as you don't really abuse it and take care of it.... the hoosiers -- not so much. and once you burn down the H's, they don't seem to come back as quickly and as closely to 'before' as the Toyos....
oh, and steve -- awesome work getting your #78 machine back in racing shape!!!! can't wait to see you all at VIR!
So did I ruin my Hankooks by overheating them or will they be OK to run again?
Also, I was really surprised to see how much better our laps times were than SM, SE30, and 944 Cup! Even comparable to CMC!
Ulysses 07-06-2009, 07:36 PM Wow man that looks like lots of fun. Nice videos!

yeah, i know! we were within 0.5 secs of the track record for PTE, on a slooooooow track! most all the other groups that typically run comparable times to us at Summit (see above) were running about 2 seconds slower. and the 'fast' guys were there (copeland, allen, etc). we were really ballin' on a slow track; if the track had been 'fast', we'd have destroyed the PTE track record; i think mid/low 1:26s no prob at all....
wade - you didn't help those kooks out a whole lot by continuing to push on them when then went away; my experience with them from the last two years was that if i sensed them starting to 'go off' i'd back out and try to coddle them a few laps til they 'came back'. i ran them super super hard out at nationals in 2007 during the long feature race and overheated them chasing crazy joe around (i was on Z214s, C50 compound) and they didn't like that too much; they never really felt the same to me after that; i think they returned to like 85% of 'great' for the next race weekend. my suggestion would be to rotate your hopefully still 'great' rear tires up to the front, and relegate your overheated front tires to the rear....
see ya soon?
todd
PS what about rosen??? where's rosen??? hellooooooo, rosen? :)
SuperblackZ 07-08-2009, 07:30 PM I'd use 'em for practice tires. Putting hard rubber with less traction on the rear has its own rewards :D
If your car is anywhere close to neutral or the rear is tight, finding you suddenly have less rear traction will abruptly "turn around" your thinking on re-use of those tires on the rear for more than just testing & practice sessions.
nx parts source 07-17-2009, 01:30 PM hey wade what's your motor and suspension set up ?
