so i had my mechanic replace my axles about 4 months ago with brand new ones, not rebuilt units. as soon as i started to drive home the WHOLE car started vibrating. i immediately thought it was a bad axle because my car wasnt doing this before they were replaced. 2 months go by and i return my axles thinking they were defective and i my buddy and replace them both with new axle seals. as soon as i start driving home the vibration is still there.

so now im thinking oh, its the wheel bearings. so this weekend i replace the wheel bearings and put in new hubs as well along with all the seals in the hub. as soon as i drive drive it the vibration is still there and im pissed.

in the time i have dealt with the vibration i noticed it is speed not only speed dependent but also only occurs under acceleration. it starts vibration the whole car including the steering wheel from about 25mph to about 50mph and then levels off and stops as i cruise on the freeway. when i give it gas (even a little) it starts to vibrate again even when im cruising along. the vibration only happens under acceleration is what i narrowed it down to.

everything suspension wise is new in the front of the car. ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, coil over set up, bearings and hubs, axles (3 different sets), brake pads and rotors and es bushings in the control arms and all the motor mounts are prothane.

so tell what you guys think it may be at this point? my last suspicion is the LSD in the tranny. im going to jack up the car and put it in gear and see is the axle moves in there. is it time to replace the 200k mile tranny in my car?

Is the car aligned? If everything is replaced and y ou havn't gotton the car realigned, that's probably your issue.

yeah, i got an alignment and while i was there i went ahead and paid for the lifetime alignment just incase i had to come back and re do the alignment.

hmm, i'd take it back and have them throw it up on the rack and see if it's in spec still. I'm currently having the same issue, got the car and everything on the front suspension has been replaced axles included, but the car rides like crap and the front vibrates under acceleration only, but the car also pulls increadably hard to the right so i'm pretty sure that's my issue. I'm getting it aligned sometime this week so hopefully.

the BS part of it is i had it aligned after the axles were replaced the first time and then again about a month ago and the same crap. it rides smooth as long as i dont step on the gas.

i had that problem about a year ago i changed everything under the car i spend over $300 and i still had that same problem the only thing that didnot change was my MOTOR MOUNTS so i went ahead and replace them all with the stock ones then the problem was gone that was my problem all this time so try that hopefully its that:biggthump :biggthump

Yeah kinda sounds like a motor alignment issue, I picked up bad vibes afer cv install and it was cause the old cv was worn with my bad tranny mount, so a new cv with the motor out of whack caused a vibration, still fighting it now till I find a transmission case haha

My second '91 B13, which I just bought, has all 4 Place Racing mounts, it vibrates the steering badly at idle, they're just too stiff. 100 rpm higher (1000) and it's smooth as silk. I can see why for track use I wouldn't care but for street/track that's just too nasty. I do plan on tracking the car but in my first one I never miss the lack of Prothane mounts on the sides, it's just fine.

My first '91 B13 only has Prothane mounts front and rear; Dave Coleman originally had all four in the car but ditched the driver and passenger side ones back to stock because of this same sort of issue. So now I want to find some OEM mounts for the sides, but they are sold as complete assemblies and just checking Courtesy, $170 a set, I find that a little steep. I don't want non-OEM for the kind of reasons that may have led to your repair issue, they're too weak.

So I either put up the cash, come up with a homebrew solution, or just live with it. Maybe I can find OEM Nissan mounts a little less somewhere else, but they're going to be about $150 anyway. Boneyard mounts are a real throw of the dice as you don't really know their age and usage.

Good call.

If your front and rear are Prothane I'd just leave them and replace the side mounts only with OEM. Coleman is pretty picky and so am I, I like that setup a lot - and I don't baby the car by any means.

I just wish that they used more of an insert style instead of complete bolt in units, the metal part doesn't need to be replaced, just the blown bushing part. I can see why people fill their own with various goo instead of paying the cost for replacements.
