I bought a header (Primera-XS Power/SSAutoChrome.com) for my 01 SE. I got it on, no problem, everything is good, car runs fine.... but my check engine light is on. The code is P0400, which has to do with the EGR.

The header came with the EGR bung cap. So I capped the bung on the header. But the EGR valve is left open, i dont know if there was a cap that goes on that too or not?

I was told that, put the EGR tube back on and there wont be a problem. First off the tube does't reach, thats why I capped it, second, because of the heat I guess, I cant get that cap off....

Some suggestions, help me out here... I been trying to get the car "passed" if you know what i mean, but I want the light off. Tom. they told me come back when the guy that does the "inspection" comes in...

HELP!!!

If you don't/can't connect the EGR tube to the header then you must remove the tube and plug the hole with an EGR block off plate on the intake manifold. To get rid of the code you will have to wire up a resistor to the EGR sensor so that it reads the correct voltage. Then, you will need to reset the ECU. To find out more about the EGR block off plate and the resistor mod, just do a search for "EGR".
