alright, couple of questions...Every how often is the auto tranny fluid supposed to be changed? What is the best fluid to use? If the transmission starts shifting sloppily(going higher than usual and shifting rough) what other things could be the problem? my guess is that the fluid is old as hell, the levels are fine but the fluid is way past it's prime, I have almost 40k miles now and still the same fluid from the factory. It's a 2001 SE. I know it's stupid of me to not change the fluid at like 20k miles, but I only owned the car a year, but I take crazy long trips 24/7. any input would be great, including sites of where I can buy good quality ATF.
Thanks,
JCC

I'd look into Mobil 1 ATF, you can find it at any autoparts stores...

Fluid change intervals and fluid types are listed in your owner's manual. In the glove box.

if your going to do it yourself ou should drain and fill your tranny fluid every other oil change or 7500 miles. when you do it this way you do not remove all the fluid but only about 4 quarts there is around8-9 quarts (im guessing i dont remember) or you can have it flushed at a nissan dealer with their t tech machine., which removes all the fluid and pumps new stuff in.

if your tranny takes a longer time to shift than normal it could be your torque convertor or solenoids you should check the stall speed, also you can check fluid pressure and some other stuff the fsm states. maybe someone else can chime in with more info

I am gonna call up the dealer and find out, they do all my oil changes, *** my parents pre-paid all that crap and warranty, etc. But everytime I get the motor oil(Mobil 1 Synthetic) they never say crap about the tranny fluid. But anywho it's my own fault, if it is more than like $50 at the dealership I'll do it myself,

ALso, if it is every other oil change then I am like 30k miles overdue, damn, that can't be good,

Ok, after reading the manual, it says that it should be inspected every 15k miles, and replaced at 30k miles if and only if uner bad driving conditions, driven harshly. I guess they inspected it at 30k and thought it was fine,
