I have a question how strong is the usdm rotating assembly? The reason i asked is i am looking for a inexpensive way to turbocharge my vehicle, and keep the down time minimal. I am going to purchase a usdm engine, run the stock block with a thicker metal head gasket with ARP studs to hold it down, and a t-28 kit. How good of a setup would this be? Input would be greatly appreciated, thanx. P.S. I have a Starion for sale if anybody is interested!:D

most people advise against the thicker head gasket to lower the compression.(if that's what you intend to do)

i've ran my little t-25 for 3 years now on a usdm motor. i boost 10 psi daily with no problems(knock on wood).

get a good fmic and jwt ecu and all will be well:D

a USDM SR20 and a T-28 will work great. the USDM's internals should be able to take a lot from the T28. Now add 50LB inj, rail, walbro pump, bored SE-R maf, and you have a nice, cheap, setup.

Well, there are guys making over 350 whp with the stock internal usdm motors if that gives you an idea. As long as you have the correct fuel management and fuel system, no worries. You gotta be more worried about blowing the tranny :)

Ive got a question and this is the closest thread I could find related to my Question. Ive been trying to find out what the Internals are made of in the USDM sr20de. Are the pistons forged as well as the connecting rods. what about the piston rings? are they chromeolly? (or something like that?) Im trying to figure out roughly how much boost the USDM will handle safely.. wanting to boost to 11 or 12 psi.

11 to 12 psi is nothing; I run that much on the street on occassion using 93 octane pump gas. You have to start worrying around 20 (and by then, you're on C16 and probably water injection to be safe, and a head gasket).

hi guys in interested on this topic , what about a stock jdm 10:1 runing max boost 15 or 14 psi safe?or stay 10 -12 maybe?

from what i've read, 14-15 is too high for regular pump gas on the higher comrpession motors

I've heard 10psi is fine. But 6-8psi would be way safer. I'm going to slap a T28setup on my car and plan on running 10psi daily. Cause after all it is my daily driver winter beater car.
