Okay, I was talking to Fast91SER today when I sent him a video of my car with my CAI on it. I watched it, then watched a video of my car with the Ghetto Intake modification. To be honest, the Ghetto Intake modification produces a lot better of a sound. I love the sound, so I'm going to screw around with some stuff now and try to reproduce that sound, but make as much power as possible. If you have any insight on this project, please help me out here. I have a couple of plans that I have talked to Fast91SER about:
1) Put my stock airbox back on, and get some PVC tubing and run it back down to the CAI's location. Put a universal cone filter on there. This method will suck in cold air from the CAI's position, but still go through the stock airbox. This way the sound gets muted slightly, and would hopefully produce this sound.
2) Do the same PVC method, but don't put a filter on the end. Instead, I put a K&N Filtercharger in the stock airbox. I'll do this method if the other method doesn't work. I have a K&N cone filter from the Place Racing cold air intake I have on my car right now.
3) Do JimR's method of cutting to suck in more air. However, also run the PVC piping to help get some colder air in there. I haven't really looked at whether this is feasible or not, I'm just thinking off of the top of my head on this method.
If I can gain some power over stock, I'll gladly keep it. Frankly, I felt no gains with my PR CAI. The power gains I felt on my car were after the timing was adjusted. My car felt like a rocket ship. I didn't notice hardly anything with my CAI.
I love the way the Ghetto Airbox modification sounds. It's much more pure and aggressive than the CAI sound. It's not as loud, but everyone that's heard the two has agreed that the G.A. one sounds a lot better.
Anyways, what do you think?
