i'm in the market for an exhaust system for my classic.
just curious about peoples experiences with cat back systems.
more paticularly with the sound level, which is where the majority
of my concern lies. i'm looking for one that is quiet above all else.
after doing some research i'm thinking that hks might have the one i'm
looking for. what do you think?

Yup, the HKS is quiet, my intake PR is definately louder at WOT. On the other hand there is a little bit more low end rumble than stock. It looks like a quality piece, not obtrusive (no 'Folgers can'), as if someone lifted it off of a Maxima or somethin. Not to mention probably the best value in a cat-back exhaust next to a $tillen or a Pacesetter, both of which are supposedly louder and not quite as durable.
You could probably duplicate the results w/ custom piping a resonator (required to keep the noise reasonable) and the muffler. This may save you a few bucks, but will take more time and effort. Do the install yerself w/ the HKS and it may be a wash.

BTW, looks like this on.
