Bought 3" super heavy duty industrial PU hose from Huakenny (Bought some times ago, but no time to do the CAI, until today). It's so durable and tough, and it cannot bend more than 80degree, so I have to come out with a DIY, thus this morning, did all the process below.

And the result was Superb Engine Response !

Be sure, to make the CAI airtight, amazing effects will happen.

PS: They are ppl debating whether it will suck debris or water into the CAI n damages the engine, but HEY, if there's flood or really dusty/sandy area, everyone is SMART enough not to drive over those places.....right ?

Adios :)

do you still have a filter in the air box? if yes there so be no problems

BBUUTT...

its still off the hondatard charts!

lol. a blue "hole" in the side of your champagne car?

you could have just ran a pipe down into the fenderwell. then no one would have seen it, you wouldnt have a hole in your bumper, and you would have got the same power gains..

yes, the filter is inside the airbox. the hose is routing out to suck cold air.

I have tried using the hose hidden inside the bumper, and now with a direct hole thru the bumper.

Comparison is, this one works better, more quicker respond. Just need to clean airfilter more often, no issues :)

anyway, cold air kits with steel pipes like the ones you guys using in america, isnt popular in my country, and no one manufactures or using them either.

we are more prone to use heavy industrial pu hoses coz they are cheaper, easy to flex and easier to remove.

I applaud your write up, but I have to fail you for this mod, as it is retarded....why not just get a proper cold air intake that doesnt involve slicing up the body of the car?

well, everyone thinks differently. this may look ugly but it works well n cost very little. i wish kits like AEM cold air intake are sold in my country, but it isnt. most of us here are using flex pu hoses to do our cold air intake here, some hidden beneath the bumper, some just like me, putting a hole in the bumper.

it's the engine respond improvement counts

i would route this to the foglight hole in the front bumper instead of the side of the bumper. but thats not a bad mod. i like it actually. but remember this forum is going to have its haters.

^its not a matter of being a hater, its a matter of being useful without permanently destroying your car. I can appreciate a DIY mod as much as the next person, but the whole idea of defacing the ride for a mod that will net no real gains in power seems asinine.

Ive got an AEM cold air intake that i am no longer using since i am now boosted. Its 2.5" genuine aem...its not perfect but if you want it ill sell it to you for 100 usd + shipping. But then again you already sliced up your car, could re route it to the brakes i guess...

Give you props for going at it at the bumper, just hope no animals decide to call it home

i agree with that but i was just saying i would rather see it go to the foglight inlet instead of the side of the bumper. would keep it more subtle.

haha, thanks for all the comments.

good to know u going boosted now, so u dont need a CAI coz it wont give much effects.

but a NA relies on these, colder n better airflow is part of the key answers for NA to perform.

I do check the "hole" regularly so no animals would call it home....haha

in future i am considering to buy a P11 nose-cut and put everything on my car, perhaps that time I would make the intake funnel facing front somewhere more neatly :)

I still laugh whenever I see the honda boyz doing this with the pepboys velocity stack thingy. I just don't see the point to this unless you drive your car sideways 99% of the time.

I know by putting facing front, a slight ram air effect will provide a mild boost to the intake n the engine performs better.

But for realiblity concern I chosen not to. This is a daily driven car, not a drag racing car. Thanks for your sharing anyway.

The only extra thing to consider is that with hard piping that is tuned, it creates a pulse effect with the air. Its not just about the air being cold, but being 'pulsed' in tune into the engine.

Think about wind instruments. thats why a cold air intake that is designed with tuning behind it will create more power than simply putting cold air into the stock airbox.

But I'm with you, dude, it's your car and do whatever you like with it. :)

its for a highport but i used it on my lowport with no problems...removed secondary mounting bracket so it wouldnt hit my fender....
