Went to JDM engine depot yesterday, they're not going to have a VE in for 2-3 weeks.......they did highly recommend a shop who works on a lot of sr20's. Its called Slidewayz Motorsports in Palisades Park, NJ. Im guessing they do a lot of 240's but im gonna call them monday, see if they do SE-R's.

Well my friend and I have bought about 3-4 motors from jdm engine depot in the past, and always had a great experience with them....always came through with excellent motors. Im definately getting the motor from them, just need a recommendation for a good shop, thanks.

If you can't do it yourself don't do it. Paying people to mod your car is a waste of money. Get the tools, get some help, do it yourself.

maybe some just dont have the time or the desire to get dirty and do it themselves. thats why auto repair shops are all over the country. extra space to actually perform the swap could be a issue too. imagine being in a tight city, sure you can swap yourself, but you need to rent the garage to pull it off it...

I have known far to many people paying for swaps that get screwed in the end with shoddy work. It's a detail oriented thing. You can't trust a shop to do it for you. It would be rare, very rare for them ot do the wiring, egr, etc just the way you want it done. Only if they have done them before (and done it right) could you have a hope of it being right.

I did mine with a broken finger and the help of some friends in a day and a half. This was a long time ago when people really didn't know much about doing them.

Another good reason to do it yourself is for when that little issue comes up, you have a better understanding of your car and can fix it... instead of hoping that 'XYZ shop' is still open and available to help you when your stuck on the side of the highway somewhere.

Thats the way I see it. When you have a stock car or just some bolt on stuff people understand the car. But when you have a JDM only engine swap like a VE no one knows anything about it. If you do it yourself, then you know it all, pay someone else and your still in the dark. I am a frim believer that if you can't do the work yourself you have no right having it on your car. Some things require special tools/skill, but not a VE swap. Here is a partial list of things I would never pay someone to do to a car I modded.

Alignments, motor swaps, suspension work, axles, fluid changes, ball joints etc.

If your car is a toy you choose to mod then you should do it yourself. If you don't then don't whine to us when things go wrong and you don't have a freaking clue what to do with the thing you have parked in your driveway.

JMR is the spot for you NY people!

i was once on of those person paying to have swaps and repairs done. my local toyota dealer screw me missing bolts on a stock swap. not even anything special.. yes its best to do it yourself but its not an option for everyone. im sure well all know someone that doesnt belong under the hood of a car. i have a few friends that def. dont belong.

i was lucky enough to learn and run with my new skills.

Well thanks for all the input and bickering haha....i just dont have time to do the swap myself, work too much. Rather pay someone to do it for me, but that does not mean i cant learn about the car after the swap is done.....just my two cents.

And I will not be doing the swap anymore, well *** my shit broke down in canada and is probably going to get sold or junked.
