JWT polyurethane mounts. Can't go wrong!

ohhhh hell yeah I can vouch for that !!!!!!!! Good mounts, no wheel hop.....post an WTB ad in the for sale/want to buy section....somebody has to have some that they want to get rid of. Thats how I got mine...although they're tough to get these days due to JWT ceasing the producton of those mounts.

another option is the Energy Suspension mount Inserts,
or Place Racing Mounts

what are the signs of bad motor mounts? my car vibrates when started and when i let off gas while driving. thing is one mechanice told me it wasnt motor mounts, and one said it was.

After installing motor mounts, how comfortable is a daily driver? Are fillings going to rattle loose?

If your motor moves around a little too much when you pull the throttle cable or at idle, or if your car sorta bucks when you let off the throttle then you got bad motor mounts (dogbone or the rear crossmember mount )...you can visually inspect them with a good flashlight...they're not hard to find
The rattling is is not that bad...sh*t in your dash might rattle from time to time though....trunk might also rattle.

I just installed the torque set (front and back) energy suspension inserts on my '96 this last weekend. The car does have more vibration... but big deal. It's only really noticeable at rpms below 2k. The car pulls much harder than it used to and it no longer bucks when I hit the gas hard or let off of it quickly. I'll be installing the other 2 inserts this weekend. The only thing I can really say against them is that they cause some parts of my car to rattle from time to time... the change in my ash tray for example. All these minor rattles should be easily fixed if the continue to bother me...

I plan on doing the full set to my '93 MDM SE-R soon. I drove SE-R Newbie's B13 SE-R with them for over an hour and it was fine. A little more vibration than just the torque set, but again, almost all of it was only below 2k rpm.

I am not a big fan of ES inserts. The firewall never did it's job on my 200. Eventually I poured my own solid one, and it was more stout, and much quieter.

I have the JWT/Nismo poly mounts. Consider all mirrors useless. They vibrate the shit out of everything.
For a cheap route, get an extra set of mounts from a junkyard (I believe 1.6 5-speed mounts should work, if you can't get se-r mounts), buy a tube of 3M Windowweld from your local auto parts store, fill the spaces in the mounts, let them dry for 3 days, install in your car.
The inserts are good as well. I've installed a few sets, they aren't that hard. Just have some wd40 and a vise. I personally like the Windowweld, I've used it in my Mazda's mount's. Very firm and very durable. Junkyard mounts+~$8.00 Windowweld= cheap solid mounts. Make sure it's 3M, not some off brand.

Another way of knowing you need mounts, is when you are driving on the freeway on 5th gear and you let go off the gas and you see your shifter move around, then it is time for mounts.

i have had the JWT mounts since 99, i remember the first drive i took and the car felt very solid, specially at high rpm shifts, any kind of vibration is felt inside the cabin.. over time the mounts become bearable, i prefer performance/function over comfort , so for myself these mounts are perfect.

Yeah, I thought of doing that but the ES mounts weren't expensive and I didn't want to have the down time required to pour your own and wait for them to cure. I'm curious though, why do you say it never did it's job? Did the engine still flex in the engine bay? Also, how did you resolve the front mounts? I mean, I can see how you could just pour around the top one, but the bottom one doesn't have any space to be filled... it can only be replaced.

I filled my mounts with the 3m windoweld about 7months ago and I have noticed my mounts are cracking out. I am going to buy the Nismo mounts and haven't figured out what I am going to do about the engine torquemount yet, since Nismo doesn't offer that one.

Can I get just the engine torque mount from JWT?

With ES mounts the wheels hopped on any hard launch. Even on softer launches. I never got any wheelspin at all. Just hops. I knew it was the firewall mount. It just looked the weakest, and worst fitting one. I couldn't drop the clutch at all before.

I gutted the mount, so it would be all urethane, and no rubber. Since re-doing it big launches have been no problem, and got off the line much faster. End of story.

It's quieter than the ES cause it doesn't make contact with the bracket. It thus transmits much less to inside the car

It's cheaper too. If you source the mounts before, and prepare it, there is no down time associated with it. Unless you introduce it by mucking things up like I do.

I used Mcmaster's. Heard 3m is better, but also heard the opposite. Both work.

Hmmm, maybe I'll try that with my MDM SE-R. How did you keep the bolt holes in the right location within the bushing after you gutted it? Did you keep the ES front mount of did you replace both of those as well?

So far I've been very happy with my ES mounts... but we'll see how the fair after they've been in there for awhile.

I just left enough rubber to hold the pin in place, and poured around it. I just did the firewall mount. The other ones, seemed pretty stout.

Just to rant for a second; The passneger one is liquid filled, and the ES replacement has to be pressed. this one is supposedly responsible for alot of vibration, and comepletely unnecessary, as most people only do teh firewall, and dog-bone mount.
I jsut wonder why that mount is totally overkill, and the firewall one is comepletely under-built. Poor R&D if you ask me.

This is definately the motor mounts. When I dropped in a new sr20 into my SE-R, I left the little urethane insert out of the front mount. Whenever the engine was at idle, or I let off the gas, it began to rattle alot. Reinstalled the mount properly and the problem dissapeared. Check or replace your mounts before doing anything else.

For the torque mount, just use the ES. That one is good, its the one near the firewall most people (me included) don't like.

I am looking into getting the PR mounts, they seem to perform pretty well. Or you can't go wrong with the JWT mounts either.

thanks a billion, this problem has been bugging me for about 3 months now. i hate the damn vibration when i turn my car on and it vibrates everything (even my rearview gets shaky) but im going to take it to my mechanic soon...or should i do it myself?
