i own a 1991 sentra se-r and i have tracked it a few times. i'm sr20de-t powered, so on the straights i can get going fairly fast. my issue is, i get pretty bad brake fade by my third lap. i have nx2000 front brakes and maxima rears. i opted for hawk pads, except i can't find any at all for nx2000s. i haven't even looked for the rears yet. can anyone help me out with this? or are there and pads people use other than hawk? keep in mind, this is my street car too, so i don't want anything that takes a lot of heat to start grabbing.

Get some Carbotech ct549xp10 pads. I have them on my nx brakes and the cars stops very well on a road course. They cost around $189.00. But thier are track pads only. I believe carbotech has a street pad as well. But once you get track pads, you'll never want to use street pads again on the course.

Get some ss lines and motul fluild.

Sorry to say, but there is no magical pad that will do it all... your best bet to get yourself a set of cheap pads for street use and get a set of Carbotech XP8,9,10's for track usage only.

Most any track pad will eat rotors, squeal, and dust on the street and most any street pad will not hold up to the temperatures seen at track. Especially when we're talking about a turboed B13 with NX brakes on them.

The carbotechs are pricey.

Look into axxis ultimate brake pads. I know you have more power, but those pads did me well at thunder hill last week. Several 105 to 60 stop and 25 min run groups with no fade; not a hint. You can get them for about 80 bucks shipped, I have a thread in the nx2000 section about them. Gspec has them, but they charges a bit more.

You should also flush your brake fluid. I did a complete flush right before I went to the track. If you want something way serious, go for it. But look to spend some serious amount of cash. Also don't waste your time on rotors, just get brembo blanks.

Lastly, I hope your running good tires. By this I mean RE01Rs, RE11Rs, XS, or anything of that caliber or higher. Better brake pads will not provide better braking if your tires cannot provide the friction to the road that is required.

P.s. I can't stress this enough, do a stress brakes flush before you go out and buy anything. Start there because its cheap, then work your way up.

Good Luck

the fluid is brand spankin new. i work for honda, so i tend to keep my fluids fresh having access to lifts and tools. i looked into brembo blanks yesterday (at autozone lol), supposedly they discontinued them for the nx. oh, and they wouldn't order me rotors unless they know if they were 250mm or 257mm? anyone have a clue.

i also already have ss lines. motul is like 16 bucks per tiny bottle, is it realllllllly worth it? i'm switching over to a dot 4 soon.

Ultimates are good street pads, but not a track pad for a turbo car. I have a set of Carbotech Panther Plus pads that lasted 10+ track days, plus the trip there and back, some of those being 8+ hrs away. I need a new set and looking at XP8s or AX6s. I destroyed a set of Ultimates with NX brakes before I bought the Carbotech's. The pads had less than 3k miles and they just fell apart.

The hawk blues don't work so well with street tires on track and will ruin a good set of wheels on a wet day... besides that they're not that bad. I'd still pick a carbotech after having driven both on track.

Eric, XP10 or higher for our heavy-ass B14s

With street tires and stock rears? I still have the rear pads that came with the car new.

Street driven? or "street tires" along the lines of Azenis' on the track? I'm using 9's right now with Azenis' and stock/original rears (~240k miles) and they do lock the tires rather easily but that's just pedal modulation. If street driven, I'd agree with 8's. If they're for the track only, get 10s and just be careful not to use too much brake and lock up the tires. I have it to the point now that I can use the maximum potential of the (old) Azenis' but not too much brake. I get a little bit of a chirp of the tires as I brake and then I'm immediately off them.

You don't need no stinking rear brakes anyway :)

If the fluid is new, just double check the bleed.

If you want to upgrade to the more expensive brake fluid, do your self a favor. If your brakes a fading, verify that your fluid is boiling. If the fluid is not boiling, then its not your fluid that is causing the fade.

Also just to let you know, theres a lot of debate about ss lines. A lot of ppl say it only adds to pedal feel and needs to be replaced more often. I had them on a different car awhile back, it was a nice addition. But I came to the conclusion that all the ss lines did was let me reach a higher piston pressure earlier, it didn't increase my overall pressure.

Lastly, if you don't wanna get axxis ultimates because they are not up to par. I very much second carbotechs. I've heard nothing but great stuff about them, I just haven't had the money to purchase them.

I just bought a set of XP8s, so I'm good now. I'm not rough on brakes, and don't drive as hard as you do. :) My track tires are Azenis, and I switch pads for the street. Only time those pads are used is on the track and to and from the track.

**Carbotech Fanboy here**

One of the great things about Carbotech brakes is that the wear layers are compatible between their street and track pads. So you only need one set of rotors if you run Bobcats on the street and XP's on the track.
