Hi everyone, My buddy just got a 91 sentra SE 1.6L the other day and he was looking into swapping his gauge cluster for a 91-92 SER cluster mostly because his tach doesn't work at all it just sits at 8RPM. When we pick up a cluster should everything plug right up or would i have to do some sort of modification? Another thing is his car i believe has about 121,000 miles when we do the cluster swap is there a way to switch out the mileage part of the clusters so the SER one would read 121k miles? Finally will the MPH be in sync with the car because the SE 1.6L cluster only goes up to 130MPH and the other 150MPH
If you guys can let me know that would be grate:biggthump

check this out.

the easiest way is to pull both clusters out to see if the wires are the same. as for as I know, the wires are the same as long as the clusters both have tachs and mechanical speedos. I'll post pix soon for ya

The top one is the 1.6, and they both have the same circuit layout. so you should be good to go. Just check it out when you pull it all out.

notice though that these are identical in features. ABS, cruise, air bag, etc. although the 1.6 cluster was an auto, I had no problem putting it in a manual car. Just one wire that wont be used. the O/D light

Yea his car is an auto also it does have a tack but it doesn't work. So will I need to find a cluster without ABS, cruise, and air bag? Another thing when I install the SER cluster in his car will MPH be in sync with the old one? It won’t say im going 50 but I would actually be going 40? Lastly what would I need to do to pull out the mileage portion of the 1.6 cluster to install it into the SER cluster because I don’t want a cluster that shows 192,000 miles etc. because his car only has 121k miles.
Thanks again for your help I greatly appreciate it:biggthump
Yea if you can let me know that would be grate!

The speedo should show actual mph, after all it is a gauge. But I honestly don't know.
As far as the odometer, there are some screw you can take loose to get it apart and you can turn the numbers yourself. I don't know exactly how I did it, but I messed with it for a little bit.
as far as the accessories go on the clusters, I don't think it would matter if it had ABS, etc or not. You're harness wouldn't have wires for those circuits, so you'd have bulbs that won't come on. I guess. I just wanted you to notice the cluster similarities. If you can find one that fits exactly, awesome.

If you have a hard time finding a se-r cluster, I might sell you my 1.6 tach cluster if you want.
