Can someone verify the Courtesy B Pipe for a B13 is indeed 2.5 inches from end to end.

The one for a B14 is between 2.5 and 2.25. I'm almost sure its 60mm.

I read this:

http://www.se-r.net/header_exhaust/courtesy_exhaust.html

But wanted to be sure it's 2.5 inches from end to end. I heard rumors it necks down where it connects to the muffler section.

Looking at this picture:

and this one:

It doesn't look like it necks down. Mine necked down at the flange on the muffler on the mid pipe.

The pipe does NOT fit the stock muffler.

Thanks for the pictures Bruce. Will this B pipe fit a Greddy muffler?

this is the b pipe i have, so i have a question, i have a b14, and i wondered why the pipe has the bend in it right before it end(where the gas tank is) do i have the wrong pipe?

No, the one you have is this one:

The one Bruce posted is for a B13.

Its not the bpipe that necks down, its the muffler (on a B14 anyway), so it can mate with the stock b-pipe.

This is really getting confusing. Brian @ Courtesy looked at one and said it necked down right after the cat flange and before the resonator. The pictures I've seen don't appear to do this and yet a friend who is selling his say's it necks down from 60-50mm.

Slartibartfast's pictures also look like it's the same size end to end but I question the funky bend before the flange for the muffler seen here: http://users3.ev1.net/~bahearn/images/misc002.jpg

That section on my Greddy unit is straight just like what's seen here: http://www.se-r.net/header_exhaust/images/01070021.jpg and I can't see any reason the have those funky bends on a B13.

Who can shed some light on this for me?

The flange that connects the muffler to the mid pipe is small than the pipe itself. Here are my pictures of when I "fixed" this

Thanks Eric but it appears you have a B14 and from what I've learned they appear to be different. This is where it all gets confusing to me. Shell Black did a write up on SE-R.net and stated it was 2.5 inches or 60mm. If it necks down to 50mm on either end of the pipe what's the advantage of using the Courtesy unit other than having a shiny stainless unit.

I really need a larger diameter exhaust for the VE. My Greddy B Pipe is 50mm end to end and I want one that's 60mm end to end.

Maybe I'll just have one fabbed up at the local muffler shop. Can anyone recommend a good resonator that has either 2.5 or 60mm openings at each end?

I would get one fabbed up. The resonator on the Courtesy one is not very good. This is a LOUD exhaust. Hwy driving is a no talk affair. As in, the other person can't hear you when you talk.

The thing is, I have an opportunity to buy a Courtesy unit cheap (need to verify diameter first) and it's pretty much a track only car so noise isn't an issue.

Jim, I looked at a greddy exhaust, I do not believe that the courtesy necks down, but I do know the greddy is almost stock piping.....

Yep. I measured the Greddy B Pipe last night and the OD is just under 2 inches. It necks down to 2 inches just after the cat flange.

damn, they must have sent us the wrong pipe, because i have a b14 with a b13 bpipe on it. i knew something was wrong, the way the pipe curved in and out next to the fuel tank. damn, i wonder if i should send it back, even though i have already installed it and had the pipe made to go to the muffler. ill take pics when i take her back to the muffler shop.

Get the Courtesy and if the car is too loud just get the Magnaflow resonator and replace the original one. The courtesy piping is really a bargin for all the bends it has. You could easily save money buy using this as the starting point for a complete cat-back with a courtesy b-pipe and a custom final section with nice muffler.

I agree but if the Courtesy unit turns out to be just 50mm what's the point?

Let me know if this is fact. If the seller has the wrong one on his B13 and you have the wrong one on your B14 maybe we could work out a deal to swap.
