: my fans dont come on anymore.
sakerocket1 09-12-2002, 09:24 PM Hey everyone, after Jacen told me yesterday that his fans dont come on anymore on his 91 I noticed that mine havent come on lately either. I cant even get them on when my a/c switch is on, The a/c has been removed does this cause this because Jacen said his A/c was taken out too. I know its a long shot. I was thinking of wiring them in with a manual switch can I do that without making the ecu unhappy?
se-r sam 09-13-2002, 10:15 PM Not sure, but it could have something to do with the pressure switch.
blackb13 09-13-2002, 10:28 PM My A/C condensor/compressor is also removed and both of my fans work fine. They come on at 203*F. The A/C button lights up, but is useless. I have noticed that my fans will only come on when I've been idling for quite a while. I have water wetter, 50/50 and 300zx rad cap.
sakerocket1 09-14-2002, 02:20 AM well I bought a temp gauge and oil pressure gauge a little while ago, any advice on where to connect them? they are both mechanical. I was thinking with the coolant one I could tap into the thermo housing any other suggestions? And where should I do the oil pressure guage from?
nissanspeed002 09-21-2002, 08:07 PM Where is the "Pressure switch" Located? Is it the switch under the intake runenrs with the 2 wire plug and the square housing that has something screwed on with 4 screws?
Thanks...
SENTRASER 09-22-2002, 02:57 AM Check the 10amp engine control fuse under the fuel pump fuse I believe on the left hand side of the fuse box. Also, check the fuse up by the battery that is for the radiator fans. If you dont have ABS or power windows you can snag the fuse from one of those and put it in there if its blown. Hope this helps!!

nissanspeed002 09-22-2002, 03:03 AM Thanks for the suggestion. All fuses are good, the fan motors are good as i jumped both of them, and i put a jumper accross the relays and the fans come on. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nxgoody2000 09-23-2002, 01:32 PM have you changed your termostat? if not that could be the problem. well, when i went turbo, my car would get real hot and my fans seem not to come on. i couldn't figure out the problem so i hooked the fans up to a manual switch. but i'm going to be taking out the turbo, and hopefully hook up the fan back to normal and pray the fans would come on.

Its a little round shaped thing near the middle of the engine(The oil pressure dummy light, its 1/8" BSPT so dont screw a 1/8" NPT adaptor in there, you'll strip out the threds), it has a weird shaped head on it, its not held in by four screws, I believe thats the I-AAC valve that you're describing. If you wanna see what shape the oil pressure switch is, go to an autoparts store and look at an oil presure switch socket. The pressure switch for the coolant is right by the idle adjusting screw(on the front of the engine).

Are you sakerocket1 as well? He didnt seem to respond to this post..
sakerocket1 09-23-2002, 05:04 PM No I'm sakerocket I met you at Bens geekout once. I just hooked them up to a manual switch.

Hey Nick! Yeh, I remember your Saphire Blue NX...rare beasts they are!! I want one! Did you take your relay out? Did you check the fuse I described in the engine compartment and the engine control fuse under the fuel pump fuse? Both of these will cause it to not kick the fans on. Also, when you change the engine over to JDM, you're supposed to change the temp sending units out, as they are diffrent.

nissanspeed002 09-23-2002, 07:29 PM OK i have a lot of problems. First off my fans are not working properly. I have checked all fuses, all relays, all grounds and everything electrical. I ran a jumper accross the relays and they come on and i ran direct power off the abttery. Everything is good there. When i turn the AC on the fan dosnt activate aswell. BUt when i disconnect the temp sensor, the 2 wire plug, the fans come on cause the ECU goes into failsafe mode. I then plugged in sensor from the JDM engine and put a torch to it. WIth a Digital multi meter i measured the ohms in audible. When the ohms went below 300 the auduble hit, the switch closed the circuit and the fans came on. I then proceeded to install that sensor in and started it up but still no fans. I did the same test with the torch and DMM on the sensor i had just pulled and got the same results. Went audible at 300 and closed the switch activating the fans. I then heated the engine up and ran it for about 15 minutes until it reached just below the H and shut her off and back probed the sensor in the intake and it read 1600 ohms. Both sensors worked with a torch to it! What gives?!?!? I went to the parts store today and found out that i have the gauge sensor for the pre 92 sr20de, so i ordered the one for post 92. sr20de. I have the 95 g20 and i'm swapping in the high port sr20de. I don't know what the hell the problem is. I'm ***** replace that gauge and hope it has something to do with it. I mean it ran for 15 minutes and the fans didnt come on. I put a candy thermometer(all i had!) into the radiator fill and it would only get up to 140 degrees. Theres also little if no pressure in the water lines. I can take the cap off without an squirting. I have a 170 degree thermostat aswell. Could the waterpump possibly be bad and not pumping the hot water back to the sensors? I dunno what to do next and i'm running out of ideas. If anyone could give me any other ideas i'd appreciate it cause right now anything is better then nothing. I'm about to put a sledge hammer through the friggen windows!
I checked juat about everything. Theres what i posted in another thread of what all i did, i have the worng gauge sensor and that'll be here tomorrow so hopefully that'll be the problem. I checked my thermostats today by placing them in boiling water and it opened at 170 degrees. I ran flush today and went to drain it 5 minutes after running it and the water coming out of the radiator drain was cold then got warm and after a while of draining got hot. Somehow my sensors isnt getting hot enough. Might need to check the waterpump, cant think of anything else....
