I was driving over a set of Trolley tracks today(pretty bumpy). A little down the road I go to turn into a road and the steering is a little tough. Go to turn again a little farther and it's even tougher. I pull over and look on the road. I could see a fluid trail where I drove and subsequently parked! F*CK!!!

So, I figure out that it must be PS fluid. I look and it's all in my passenger side tire well. The fluid is everywhere in that area! I can't imagine how this could happen from a bump. WTF Any ideas on what happened and what the damage (to my pocket) this will be?

My $20 says it's the line that goes from the passenger strut area, down the back of the intake manifold, to the PS rack.

I'll bet it either:
A.) Split at the compression fitting where it attaches to the intake manifold...
or...
B.) The fitting came out down on the bottom, where it goes into the rack.

Been there, done that. Don't want to fix it ever again.

Good luck.

There should be a few people here that have the part (used) that you need. Check with someone who has installed the power steering eliminator kit.

Took it to the mechanic on friday. Apparently a lower hose burst. He fixed it up for $10!! I was then back and better than before. I think he was just being nice since I just spent $500 a few days earlier there.

Had a similar problem, except the steering never quit working. It would leak like hell everywhere I parked it, and coated everything in my wheel well. Turned out to be the suction line from the reservoir to the pump.

$10 plus a couple layers of knuckle skin & VOILA! - no more leak...
