I had several good runs at the strip in good 'ol Fernley, NV even though the timing system was messed up resulting in no timeslips or tree. I had beaten a WRX earlier in the night, so his buddy in an '08 Sti stage 2 asked me if I wanted to race, but he demanded a carlength. I thought it was funny and figured I had already won no matter the outcome. We lined up, and he made sure the starter staged him a carlength. The starter did the hand-drop and the Sti bolted out hard. I bogged, and by the time I hit second he was at least 5-6 lengths ahead and moving out strongly. As I ripped into third, I thought there was no way I was going to catch him even though I was starting to pull hard. I pulled even harder in fourth and passed him just before the finish, winning by maybe a carlength going through the traps at @115. It was a great end to the night!
Afterwards he and the WRX crew came over and were real cool about it and complimentary about the my plain-jane '92 SE-R. Times like these make all the hours in the garage and driveway seem somehow worth it
