: Strange noise from turbo???
ITR_KILLR 09-13-2002, 09:26 AM My turbo is making a strange noise? I think the manifold to turbo gasket might be blown? The car still runs fine, just makes a weird noise when it's spoolin up? My mechanic put a new gasket on when I had my turbo rebuilt about 9k miles ago?
kenley_ser 09-13-2002, 02:19 PM first of all im sorry for being off topic but if you have a T25 what is the part number for the manifold to turbo gasket???
thanks
Big John 09-14-2002, 01:05 AM If the sound is a loud whiny sound, with slower spool up, the leak between the turbo to manifold is bad. If its a fludder, almost sounds like a knock, then its not to bad, but still outta be checked. Check the torque on the bolts. If its not leaking at all, pull your IC pipe and check for oil or metal particles to see if your turbo is failing. Hope this helps!
John
ITR_KILLR 09-14-2002, 01:49 AM I guess it sounds more like a flutter, I will check the bolts, the turbo shouldn't be failing, it was rebuilt @10k miles ago and has been running at stock boost most of that time?
SHAWNATGERBROCK 09-16-2002, 08:02 PM The T25 turbo to manifold gasket # is 14415-17m00
JayLew 09-16-2002, 10:22 PM ITR Killer....my neighbor had the same problem a few weeks ago, we thought it was his turbo but it actually ended up being his clutch.
It was making a chatering/cherping noise, sometimes quiet, sometimes loud, then about a week later it was toast. Come to find out the clutch was worn out so bad that the rivets were digging into the flywheel, and it only had about 15K on it.
Just a thought, because your semptoms are identical to his, flutering while spooling or excelerating hard.
BTW anyone doing an S13 swap, dont plan on getting much more than 15 runs with a street/strip ACT clutch. Especially when you use slicks.

The crush washers for oil and water lines (can't remember which is which, but they are cheap - just get two each): 15193-P9000 and 15193-03E00.
Compressor outlet gasket: 14465-40P03
If you want to use the Z32 compressor discharge outlet, the part number is: 14460-40P11

ITR_KILLR 09-18-2002, 10:07 PM i don't think it's the clutch, it has a fairly new ACT SSHD (@9K on it), but the noise comes and goes. there seems to be no effect on performance yet, ??????

If it is your clutch, sooner or later your RPMs will climb fast but your car wont pull as hard or wont eccelerate much at all. My neighbors got so bad his car couldnt even drive up an overpass.
redman007 09-20-2002, 03:14 AM My car seems to do the same type of (hesitation/ slipping) actsshd clutch new BB install but people tell me it's the turbo lag due to the 2 1/4" exh. Or the not recirculating of my HKS BOV to the intake pipe going to the turbo. After 3500rpm look out baby.
ITR_KILLR 09-20-2002, 09:14 AM redman, your hesitation is most likely coming from not recirculating your bov.

redman007 09-20-2002, 12:27 PM cool thanks.
