Hey everyone, ill be the first one to admit i am no expert when it comes to the more technical things with cars, but i just got a used set of agx/hypercos :D and i went to get an alignment at town fair tire, they came out after i put new tires on and said they couldnt align the front because the strut assembly was too tight and to come back when i loosen it.

:squint: wth?? i went to a few other shops and they said they had no idea what they were talking about, one shop said lowering your car is stupid pointless and useless and ill have a hard time finding anyone who will touch it, so i looked at him laughed and walked out. i made an appointment with a different shop for the morning who said it shouldnt be a problem so hopefully they can do it.

so my question is has anyone ever had a problem like this?

sorry for the lengthy post guys

lol ive NEVER had a problem like that.

i cant believe that one guy was talking shit, what a good way to bring in new customers!

the strut assembly being too tight? huh?! lol

the only problem i have had doing an alignment is getting my car onto the racks haha.

try to find a performance shop that does alignment. and if they dont do alignments, they will most likely know of a shop that does. usually you will pay more for a performance shop to do an alignment, BUT, they can set it up the way YOU want it. and/or help/teach you a good setup

i think i found a good shop they even asked me if i wanted to set it up a certain way which suprised me but they informed me my ball joints were shot and it would be pointless to do an alignment till i get that fix or it would be a waste of money

As long as you torqued everything down to spec, I don't see how it would be too tight. Perhaps they had trouble turning the adjuster. You may want to spray some liquid wrench on those and let it sit just in case.

A lot of commercial shops tend to shy away from 'modified' cars because it makes it harder for them to guarantee their work. Keep shopping around. I have AGX struts with hypercoils and my local NTB did my alignment. They also asked me about the usage of the car to better adjust the alignment.

yea, without good ball joints and tie rods most shops wont do an alignment

is this on a b13? if so, there are only three alignment adjustments

front toe, rear toe, and front camber. none of those are going to be "too tight" lol.
