: Recent Purchase

I am putting this information on here to keep all things open on the forum with a recent transaction I have had with a purchaser on this website.

Here is my for sale thread:
http://www.sr20forum.com/naturally-aspirated-performance-parts/255305-hks-axleback.html

and a photo of what I was selling:

I sold this item to a purchaser mid september. He had informed me he recently purchased a sentra b13 hks exhaust that did not fit his NX. As most are aware, the NX exhaust is different. This is what he purchased previous to picking up my axleback:

So, of course he posted in this thread:
http://www.sr20forum.com/sr20de-technical-corner/256321-b13-nx-catback-question.html

This question:
hey guys.

my question is...will the intermediate/B-pipe from an HKS B13 sentra catback line up with the axle back from an HKS Hi-power exhaust for an NX2000? are they the same? diameter for both are 2.25".

i already own the full HKS sentra catback but, of course, it will not fit onto my NX. because if this, i am looking to buy an NX axleback and i want to be 100% sure that these two pieces will bolt right up, with no extra work needed.

i've done some searching already and i am pretty sure, based on a couple of old threads, that they should bolt up. i repeat though, i want to be exactly certain before i buy, as shipping such a big item to hawaii is killer on the wallet. i already spent a lot on shipping the catback here to not have it fit so i can't afford any mistakes.

please let me know if any of you can shed some light onto this issue for me. i need to do something about this asap, as i destroyed my old exhaust taking it off and am currently running 2 feet of pipe only after the cat.

thanks very much in advance guys!

To which there was no response. I posted this information for his use in a pm:

Ok 2 things then to think about:

1) Stock nx size is 2.25", you said the hks intermediary pipe (the S curved one with the resonator) is also 2.25", so either use your stock or not, makes no difference, they are exactly the same diameter. But that's not necessarily the question here because we both know hks is way better than oem, so here is happynole, one of the most reputable people on the forum speaking on the intermediary pipe between the b13 and the nx:
"I have a B13 Sentra Stromung catback exhaust and I also have a Nissan Motorsports (Borla) B13 NX rear section. I know for a fact that the center section is the same for both the Sentra and NX as I have used the Stromung center section on both cars (as a complete system on the Sentra and in combination with the Borla on the NX) at different times."

So that being said it stands to reason that your hks intermediary pipe should have zero issues mating to this hks axleback. Since I have no way of telling, it's safe to assume that if you have your oem S curve as well as the hks, then wait for my part to come, and make your decision as to what to do next with the b13 axleback.

It all boils down to this:

Yes, it will fit your intermediary pipe provided it's the same as stock (should be.)

Let me know, and remember, if you send the $200, there will be extra for the shipping cost. I wont charge pkging since I have a stupid amount of bubble wrap from my roommate lying around, so shipping will be your only additional expense, so please include shipping address for me to get the additional price for shipping out to you. Did you decide on whether you would like the pipe cut or not? BTW, the pipe I'm giving you is better than the one you have. It's a stainless steel muffler, and the coveted (and very rare) hks hipower muffler. Supposedly it sounds absolutly perfect according to 3 members I've spoke to who has one. I'm selling mine because I am going VE and 3"!

Let me know, pleasure getting to know you either way you decide to go man!

To help him make his decision. He decided to go ahead with the purchase.

Now I have a pm which, because of the forum rules, I cannot post, but basically he stated he tried to mate the sentra hks exhaust intermediary pipe up to my hks axleback exhaust. Now, because the hks axleback is designed as a direct oem bolt on, the fitment to an hks from a sentra may or may not fit. After he was satisfied thinking it would, he purchased the item. In the most recent pm he said he did the following:
1) received the item
2) tried to fit the item
3) couldnt fit the item to the sentra hks axleback (remember he doesn't have the oem intermediary pipe to bolt it to) so he took off the clamp on my exhaust, trying to get it to fit, thus negating his ability to send the item back to me in exactly the same shape I mailed it to him4) demands his money back.

I wanted to keep things on the up and up here on the forum to uphold my user feedback rating. As you can see, I'm a pretty straight up guy, and want to make sure that everyone knows what happened prior to this blowing up.

So he asked the fitment question on the 26th of september, then purchased the item on the 1st of october, THEN bumped the question AFTER he purchased it on the 10th of october - a strange bump after purchasing the item.

He then claimed he received the item on the 14th of october, at which point told me didnt fit.

I've learned from past failures that almost every cat-back system has a different something at the juncture of the b-pipe and the axle-back. (different angle, placement, flange, bolt size)

Unless is is an axle-back made for the OEM b-pipe, chances are it will always be off enough to have a muffler shop work it.

Maybe that's not a hard and fast rule when you go searching the topic, but that's my conclusion after 3 or 4 situations similar to this.

Yeah, and once its modified, I would say that about wraps it up.

Ok, so he's being very reasonable about this - he's going to take it to a local shop and see what they can do. If the bill is around or less than the $80, we agreed to split the cost of the work to get it happening for both of us. If it's stupid expensive though, we may resort to ordering something from overkill, if THAT doesn't work, then we're back to square one and NOBODY'S happy.

Let's just hope it doesn't get to that point. In the end, he's a super nice guy so I want to be flexible. If things go poorly for costs to get it welded then I suppose he'll have to sell it himself to recoup expenses because the item is impossible to send back in the exact form it was sent to him in, with the changes he made to it previous to this agreement we have made. I'll keep the forum posted.

Guys, things have worked out. Brandon is absolutly a straight up guy - we were able to work a common resolve and I would not hesitate to do business with him again, ever. I dont think there is a more understanding and reasonable dude on the forum.

Mods, if you feel the need, please delete this thread, all things have worked out just fine for us.
