Finding a nice one is pretty rare. Lenger you definitely get good ones but I've looked at a lotta tore up shit with you too. Its good for my SE-Rs ego though. hehe.

If you do a motor swap lemmme know if you wanna get rid of that motor. All you really need to pass emissions is a catalyst and a halfway decent tune.

Really it pings? What is the timing set at? Check plugs and if its really ping-ing then turn the distributor forward toward the radiator a little bit.

It might be the chain rattling im not sure. Im not familiar with sr20's. I am planning on doing a tune up this weekend. Do you know what the problem is when it sputters between 2k and 3k? Ive been reading up and it seems like the knock or maf sensor is most likely the cause but I dont want to start wasting money that I dont need to.

probably not the knock or the maf. I would just do a tuneup on it. All motors are notorious for that sputter when in need of plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc...

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it would be sensors since I dont want to put alot into the engine. I think the egr needs to be cleaned as well.

Are you sure you have an EGR? The UK motor I sold him has no EGR. It was in the car last time I saw it.

I was actually looking for the egr when my buddy and I did the tune up. I have no idea what it looks like, and he said he didnt see it. We gave it new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. We also had to adjust the timing a little bit because the engine sputters at idle. The car is running a little smoother but it is still a little inconsistant.
