Greetings,

i have a 92 nx2000 that's stock.
When I turn my lights on the low beams work like they should; but the passanger high beam won't light.

I assumed the light was burnt out... So I put a bran d new one back in. To my surprise, the same thing was still happening... It's like the cars winking at me!

So I checked for bad fuses but they are all still good. I got the voltmeter out... And the connector reads 12v when the high beam is on... But as soon as I slip the bull on, the voltage drops to 0v... The bulb is not the problem as I tried swapping it on the drivers side and it worked like it is supposed too.

It seems like something is getting shorted out somewhere...
I tried seaching a bit but I came up dry...

Any thoughts?!

Normally I found problems in the light switch on the column. The copper "fingers" as I like to call them get pitted and cause problems. Doesn't quite fit your problem, but if you have a spare laying around, change it and see. Don't take but a few minutes to change out and if it doesn't fix it, you can at least eliminate it..... Mike

Easy fix. Just replace the headlight switch on the steering column.

See this thread:

^^^^^

These are good suggestions. I'd put my money on the switch in the column. It's a mess.

I'm not sure where to look for a replacement switch... Dealer or can I try kragen?! I know I'm being lazy... But since I don't have a part no I dread dealing with the parts stores :-/

cheers,

ps I'll try cleaning it and post results

Did you read the linked thread? The part number is 25540-64Y00 and costs about $55.
