: So my wheels are aligned...and look at here...

Last month I went to buy some new tires, and when I did, I was surprised to see the wear on the passenger side tires. Every year when I put my summer tires on, I get an alignment done at the dealership. So when I saw the wear I was concerned. I then took my car to a recommended shop, and he confirmed that the wheels were aligned. The only thing that he noticed was how much space there was in the front wells compared to the rear. I'm pretty sure that my car has always been like this, but he thought I should ask other owners. Last week I had to go to the tire shop for something, when the guy looked at my new tires, and thought that it was time for a rotation. My tires don't even have 5,000Km on them, but he thinks that they're starting to show signs of wear. I then took the car to the dealership, with my old warped tire and asked them to check the suspension. They said that everything checks out fine.

Can anyone with a stock suspension tell me if you have more space in the front wells?

yes, all b14's have the annoying appearance of higher suspension in front. it's actually the fact that the front fenders are cut higher than the rear for some reason, nothing actually to do with suspension.

The difference in gap is normal. That tire wear is very weird since the worn area doesn't smoothly transition to the rest of the tire.

Thanks for the info guys...

P11GT,
What exactly does the "tracking" refer to? I've heard the term before, but am currently having a brain fart. (nice car btw)

Teal97,
I bought the car new. As for hitting anything hard, I've hit a pothole a few times (damn Toronto roads). Also in Feb 2001, the passenger side of my car was hit from the side. Damage was done from the front quarter panel to the rear door. I know that the frame was slightly bent, and was pulled back by the dealership. I'm pretty sure that my winter tires don't have the same wear on them, but I'll double check.

On the weekend I'll try to measure the distance, and pop off the wheels to check inside of the tire for any wear. Before I replaced the tires, I used to hear a drone while driving. Then when I saw the tires, I assumed that it was due to how warped they were. When I replaced the tires to sound went away. I don't know if it's my imagination, but I think the sound started to come back the last few days.

what size rims and tires are you using?

Summer Tires: 205/45/16 on after market rims
Winter Tires: 195/55/15 on stock rims

Trackings just another term for alignment, it just makes sure that both front wheels are pointing in the same direction, i.e. parallel.

What size are the aftermarket rims?

Did you ever find that tire to have real low pressure?

Its not rubbing anything in the front suspension?

I believe that they're 16*7.

Never had really low pressure, and I don't think that they're rubbing anything.

this may sound dumb, but ive heard **** say it **...

maybe it's *** how u drive, maybe u make more right turns than
left turns (more jughandles or u- turns) causing the wear to be more on 1 side. Especially if u turn quickly or drive quickly.
or vice versa...

I definitly read that someplace, i dont really remember where ***...

It might be that your car was not pulled properly aligned after that accident? I dunno as far as I know my car is doesn't have alignment problems. The tires have been on the car for 2 years or so... I ran Toyo T1's for about 2 summers and the car didn't seem to have any abnormal wear on the tires. As for the wheel gap it's that big! You could stick your entire fist in there with plenty of room to spare. The rear is much more acceptable it's got a three finger gap!.... Anyways best of luck with the SE Limited and keep it clean :)

I dunno but from the looks of that tire... the Inner part is wearing more so than the outside... and u did say u had an accident... I would say u should take it in and have it measured... not just aligned... Just a thought I dunno if I am jumping the gun on anything.

On the weekend I rotated my tires. The wear looked the same on all four tires. I'll try to get the frame looked at soon. I did notice that I was missing a centering ring on the front driver side tire. I know it was there when I put my summer rims on with the old tires, so either my dealership or the tire shop forgot to put it back on.
