Hey I searched but really couldn't find anything on the topic, and I've been searching google for days.

I read somewhere if you hook up the solenoid to the battery the rattle goes away, so I tried it and sure enough, no more rattle on idle.

So I guess my question is if one were to wire up the solenoid so it were on constantly when the car is running, would this be an alternative to replacing the cam gear?

Only reason I ask is because I don't know how the vct works exactly and if the change would negatively effect the engine.

any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
