I bought some adjustable lowering springs. I Need some help installing them. Maybe step by step? and what tools will I need exactly, or how much would a shop charge? Thanks.

a decent shop would charge 200 or so. look into the fsm for a better step guide or even search a little in the how to section here.

u will need the basic socket set, jack, jack stands, and most importantly a strut press..the first time i ever did springs it was a 6hr adventure

I think there is a thread out there that has the exact socket sizes you will need and everything, but basically you will need a metric socket set, breaker bar (or raw muscle), torque wrench, spring compressor and a good set of jack stands.

Jack the car up and put on stands, remove the wheels, remove the brake line clips and any sway bar links (rear) from the strut. Remove the lower 2 bolts holding the strut knuckle in place. Before removing the nuts from the top of the stut tower, I like to loosen the nut in the center of the strut tower hole that holds the entire thing together. Just loosen it, don't take it off. Then remove the nuts from the top of the strut and slide the entire assembly out from underneath. Using a spring compressor, compress the springs and carefully remove the nut holding it together. Then put the spring compressor on the new springs and install in reverse order. Make sure to torque everything down to spec.

it's really not too hard with the right tools. took me and a buddy an hour and a half to do new springs and struts.

Don't forget a ViseGrip to avoid the struts from turning with the bolt on top. lbto sounds about right, I did it my self for two hours with power tools though. If you have the guts as well try it with out the spring compressor. If this is your first time doing it I suggest dont, it might give you a heart attack. LOL. Pepboys is not going to charge you less than $200 that's for sure unless you have a connection. Try also Youtube. Bring the Laptop on your garage and follow the step by step procedure.

on the other hand call around to some shops, especially if your within driving distance to a military base, there is shops around that will do it right for around 100bux, but if you have the tools go for it, but if you have to rent or buy a bunch of crap might be better off paying someone to do it

Hey,

We just did this a few months ago. I was surprised how straight forward it is. Easy is a relative term, but there isn't many steps. The only thing you really need is a spring compressor and you can 'loan' one of those from any local auto shop (o'rielley, autozone, ec...). You pay $X and you get that back when you return it - so it's basically free to use.

I'd also get a breaker bar or pipe to help you get some leverage. That's about all you need (besides a basic tool set of course).

I'd figure 2.5 hours doing it your first time w/a moderate experience level. After your first spring, the rest will go by a lot quicker.

Good luck!
