Will stock SR20DET pistons on DET rods fit a regular SR20DE crankshaft?

If not, what would have to be needed/done to make them fit?

And how about DET pistons on DE rods (stock, tomei, eagle, w/e)?

Or to put it differently: What are (if any) the differences between DET pistons and rods, and DE pistons and rods, other than CR? And would they be exchangable?

This because I want to lower the CR in my VE with DE crank and rods from 13.5:1 to around 9:1 (which will be achieved with DET 8:5 pistons).

Thanks!

Don't know what it will lower your c/r too, but from what I've seen on here everything is interchangeable. I believe det pistons have grooves in them for the oil squirters, so you can't put de pistons in a det or anything with squirters. I think det rods are the same as de rods except on gti-r motors.

I'm not for sure but I would like to know the answer to this also :biggthump

It would turn the CR down to around 9:1.

And if they have notches for squirters, that would be awesome, since the VE has them too.

So GTI-R pistons and GTI-R rods wouldn't work on a DE crank, but GTI-R pistons and DE rods would?

No problems putting GTI-R pistons on DE rods?

gtir pistons are same as any det pistons...just the rod is different cause the crank journal for the rod bearings is 19mm compared to det/de which is 17mm.

also u will have to notch the de pistons to fit in det/ve i think...cause of the oil squirters.

to accomplish what ur trying to with ur ve...u need to get a nice set of avenir/bb pistons and rods. i know ur looking to boost so get new rings...bearings...and a good headgasket...also might wanna get some aftermarket head studs and rod bolts.
if u have an sr16ve u need a de crank(unless u wanna keep it short stroke 1.6)...but if u have the 2.0ve u can use that crank with det rods/pistons.

Right, just to clear things up a bit:

I have a SR16VE with SR20DE crank and rods, and SR16VE pistons. So it's now a 2.0L with a CR of 13.5:1.
I need to swap out the SR16VE (notched) pistons for some pistons that net me the needed 9:1 (since there's no pistons which'll get me a 8.5:1 CR). And DET pistons will do. I then wouldn't have to notch the DET pistons, since they're already notched, right? I'd be ditching the stock SR20DE (unnotched) pistons, so no more references to those :P. It makes it look like you're not understanding my point :P.

So the question remains:

Will GTI-R pistons (or whatever DET pistons) fit the rods of an SR20DE? Since I already have those in the motor.

yes..whatever piston u chose will fit the de rod.

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks alot!

Since the GTI-R rods won't fit the DE crank, we can take the crank & rods from a GTI-R to put in a DE ?
I need to change rods & possibly the crank, that's why I'm asking :)

that wont work either. the mains also is 19mm i think. and the de mains are 17mm so gtir crank wont work in de either. y dont u just use the gtir complet bottom end/block

Because the head won't work on the GTI-R bottom, I need a bluebird/avenir crank or DE.
