: The setup of s-afc
Cory Short 09-16-2002, 10:57 PM I'm tring to install a s-afc in my car. The problem is that I don't now all the info. to put in the afc . For examlpe what kind of sensor to put in. I have call a'pexi and they were on help. So if anybody can help me with this problem you will have my thanks. Thank you for your help:confused:
charlie2020 09-17-2002, 02:07 AM Im gonna try my best to help you by keeping it short and simple but to the point.
You will need a wiring diagram FSM or the one that came with the SAFC.
SAFC *******************************ECU
Red wire (IG Power)***** to*** Orange/Blue stripe
Green wire (RPM Signal)** to*** Blue/Black stripe
Grey wire (Throttle Signal)*to***White wire (not same)
Brown wire (Ground 1)*** to***White wire (same)
Black wire (Ground 2)**** to***White wire (same) 1 cm apart
Blue wire = Not used
NOTE: Cut the Orange wire in half this is the MAF signal wire that will be running through the SAFC.
Yellow wire (MAF Output)* to***Orange wire connect to ECU side
White wire (MAF Input)*** to**Orange wire connect to MAF side
ALL CONNECTIONS ARE DONE AT THE ECU CLOSEST TO THE PIN AS REASONABLE POSSIBLE BUT NOT TO CLOSE MAYBE 3.5 to 4 INCHES AWAY FROM CONNECTOR (LEAVE ROOM FOR EROR).
1) Disconnect your battery.
2) Ground the SAFC now pay attention here because you can cause damage to the unit if grounds are improperly grounded.
a) There are 2 ground wires:
**Brown wire
**and
**Black wire
It is impairitive to connect the Brown wire closest to the ECU followed by the Black wire 1 cm thereafter the Brown wire.
3) Connect the (Red wire) to the appropriate wire on the ECU.
4) Connect the (Green wire) to the appropriate wire on the ECU.
5) Connect the (Grey wire) to the appropriate wire on the ECU.
6) Connect the (Yellow wire) to the appropriate wire on the ECU.
7) Connect the (White wire) to the appropriate wire on the ECU.
8) (Blue wire) is not used.
(9) Take your time and do it right.
If you have the manuel refer to that also I just did this because sometimes it easier to understand when broken down in parts.
charlie2020 09-17-2002, 03:14 AM When you finish doing that let me know and I'll help you with the settings and what not.
Cory Short 09-18-2002, 09:22 PM Thank you Charlie for the info. I have it in but I have to redo it because the thor. senser is not reading . So I'm going to check all my wire ends. I would like to get the setting but not on this motor it is trashed but I have a bb motor that I'm getting from jgy custom. I'm going to need some setting for that motor to tune it with the s-afc so I would like to get some help if you don't mind. I will reply back to let you know how the s-afc thor is working. thank you again.
nemesis 09-23-2002, 12:21 AM yup, Charlie...I also can use some info to start off, with the set up.
I put mine in, works fine reading everything it should, now it's the task of set the SAFC. The problem is as you probably read on my other postings, I already have a JWT ECU running the BB DET, but was having stalling problem due to BOV releasing into the atmosphere and running a bit rich.
I didn't set any corrections, just messed with the Decel feature, that helped a lot. So now it's trying to figure out the rest of the set up. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What are your setting on the Decel feature? specifically.

How did you tap into the harness? Electro taps suck and should not be used for SAFC, believe me I know first hand plus you run the risk of breaking strands and it important not to do that.
charlie2020 09-23-2002, 01:34 AM Just a few raw standard basic settings for the SAFC on a
SR20DE(T)
Setting Sensor Type
Hotwire
Setting Sensor Number
IN OUT
06 - 06
Setting Cylinder/Throttle Sensor Type
Cyl Thr
4 Arrow pointing North East
NOTE: If you have the Manual use that as a reference also if you happen to have an Avenir or GTi-R SR20DET with the Avenir or GTi-R MAF you Sensor Number Settings will be IN 05 - OUT 05 otherwise just...... IN 06 - OUT 06 for USDM MAF 22680-53J00.
Se-Rious92sentra 12-19-2002, 11:38 AM whats the sensor type for a cobra maf???
nite-stalker 12-19-2002, 01:30 PM same as stock, hotwire, 6in 6out
REDSENTRASE-L 12-19-2002, 02:51 PM hey charlie, if i buy one, can you hook it up for me?!:D
slvrsentra 12-21-2002, 10:05 PM Hey charlie
You say that electro taps suck what was your method of wiring the s-afc up? Just curious.
THANKS
CORY
charlie2020 12-22-2002, 01:14 PM First electro taps, but they don't work good they intermittingly sp break connection, so solder sp is the only way to go for a true connection. No more problems.

hey Charlie, would these be the same settings for a 96 sr20de+t? stock MAFS, with 370cc injectors? Please LMK TIA!
NismoSER 05-05-2004, 02:01 AM For an Avenir MAF, isn't it 5 in 6 out? Not trying to say you are wrong, more likely than not its me :), but don't you want the AFC to know that it has a different MAF there but let the out signal to the ECU still read the same?
If I'm wrong, just ignore me!

this setting ONLY if u are using avenir MAF and USDM SR20DE ECU. if avenir MAF and avenir ECU. then 5-5
JGsnismoser 05-05-2004, 09:09 AM hey charlie, if i buy one, can you hook it up for me?!:D
I got one for sale :)
And Cory don't forget to solder and tape everything real tight.
HkSBlueBird4u 05-05-2004, 09:30 AM yooo im runing the s-afc on a jdm motor with stock ecu an Ecu what do i put on IN /OUT i had it on 0 0 an its running pretty good.. correction i also have it on 9% anyone got info?

Ah, thanks for the clarification. That's my setup :)

You need to be at 6 in 6 out, 0% correction I would assume.
BTW, this thread I brought back is like 2 years old!
