: VE's f/s
JDM_2ner 09-17-2002, 01:15 AM I talked to one of my friends who works at an import salvage/engine depot place about aquiring some nissan engines. he talked to his importer about it and this is what we have so far:
SR20VE (eng., tran., ecu) $2000, 1500 for engine only.
I will talk to him about 16ve's hopefully tomarrow. Al the prices are shipped here-either to the shop in SE wisconsin or to your door, im not sure which. i will clarify tomarrow hopefully.
(his importer that deals w/ him goes to japan himself and hand picks all engines) I posted in f/s also, but thought id get more feedback here also.
civicdragon 09-17-2002, 01:54 AM Yeah i know a guy who can get just about any jspec engines...
he sold a b18C1 for 1700... cant get these things for under 3000 usually... I want to see how much he wants for a VVL...
SERiousNiss 09-18-2002, 02:25 AM very very interested, please keep posting info...

STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP PLEASE contact me at cej@TeamNissan.dk
I probably need a new SR20VE!!!! :(
We started my engine for the first time yesterday and it sounded great for the first 5 min then it began to make strange noises, so now I have to take it out again and find out what the problem is!!
But if I can get my hands on a "new" one with tranny and ECU for 2000 USD then I'm definitely GAME!! - Is it auto or manual tranny!? :)
How old is it and how many miles has it been driving!?

This is why I bought mine from Andreas.

I was also VERY close to buy an engine from Andreas, and I would NEVER have had any prblem at all buying from him, because I know he only sells quality! :)
But I got a VERY good offer in NZ where I have a friend which looked at the engine before shipping. But during freight the freight company have damaged the engine! Else I'm SURE everything would have been just perfect! :)
My engine (engine, ECU, wiring harness, MAF) have run 3000km (1700 miles) and I only paid 1.629,79 USD incl tax, freight and GST

My engine also was damaged in shipping AND I broke my finger unloading it (which I was not supposed to need to do AND the company who damaged and agreed to replace the damaged part has filed for bankruptcy. None of this was Andreas's fault of course.
If you had bought an engine from here shipping would have been very high.
Jackson Diamond 09-19-2002, 12:57 AM What shop? I am from Milwaukee, and would like to know. Please fill me in.

he he he I off all people share your pain!! :)
Why can't they not just take care and think about it as being OTHER peoples property which they MIGHT be looking forward to recieve in GOOD condition!?
JDM_2ner 09-20-2002, 01:08 AM b/c nobody is perfect. maybee they do car about it-and just "dropped" it on accident or sumthin. most likely-there not going to say anything. shit just happens.
bigtom 09-20-2002, 02:45 AM i saw a flier circulating amongst the shippers of the world. said something like....please drop and severely damage all nissan engines that say VVL
TeamNISSAN 09-20-2002, 03:15 AM HE HE HE*LOOOL*
T4 Primera 09-23-2002, 03:37 AM TeamNissan,
I hope you get your money from the shipping company soon. I still feel ill when I look at the pictures of the damage they did - but I'm glad you can still have a laugh about it all.
What kind of noises did the engine make after running ok for 5 minutes? BTW, did you get my email dated 19/9 ?

HEEEELLOOOOO my friend!!! :D :D :D
I have already told them about all the help you have given me! :D :D
It was three of the bearings that have taken damage!! Two off them only very little, but the third do not look nice! - The crank is a little blue just before the main bearing, so I'm almost positive that they have driven the car home after it have wrecked! :( The problem with that is as you remember that the oil pan was damaged, so on their way home they hadn't any oil in the engine! But I have checked all the bearings now so we will try to replace the bearings and remove unevenness from the crank with some emery cloth (only one little unevenness in the rotation direction) so we hope that it will hold together! :)
Yep got it and answered it actually 15 minutes ago! I have been busy with the engine! Sorry! :)
I am still looking forward to turn the key and take it for a spin! Actually I'm feeling as a little child before Christmas Eve!!*LOL* :D
It is GREAT to have you on this forum too!
T4 Primera 09-24-2002, 05:44 PM Glad you got it sorted Carsten.
Unfortunately, that is something I couldn't have checked without removing the bearing caps. Sounds like you are closing in on it now.
After all this, you are probably more familiar with the internals of the VE than almost anyone *LOL*
I will feel much better once the shipping company coughs up the money they owe you. :)

NO NO NO NO of course not!! :) That is just bad luck! But I'm on top of the problems right now.... I think.....*LOL*
he he he I have under all circumstances used A LOT of time "inside" the VE´! :D
They have to or else I will buy a ticket and visit them myself!! he he he 10200 NZD/ 4800 USD is also a kind of money!!*LOL*
If I pay them a visit, then I can stop by your house to!! :) - See there is good things in every situation! Just have to think positive thoughts!! ;)
JDM_2ner 09-26-2002, 04:26 PM wow. this pertains nothing to the topic here-but you have an extremely "happy"personality. not that theres anything wrong with that. just an observation.:D
TeamNISSAN 09-27-2002, 04:33 AM Thanx :)
Life is too short to go around wasting time on being angry! Things don’t get any better for that reason.
Anyway my project has last for almost 8 month now, and EVERYTHING that could go wrong has gone wrong! So I have decided to take everything with a smile or else I would have blown a fuse or two loooong time ago (in a galaxy fare fare away)! :D
But today is the BIG day!! My engine has only idled for 30 min Thursday on the lift - I haven't tried driving it yet because we are not sure that it is going to get enough gasoline so we thought it might be the smartest thing (With my luck) to drive it the first time on a dyno so we could keep an eye on the car!
What is the ignition on a SR20VE!? 15 degrees as all the other SR models!? :o)
JDM_2ner 09-28-2002, 01:04 AM i beleive i remember one of the ve swap vets sayin' 15 is the best but you prob wanna chack w/ them. it either was steve(98sr20ve), bigtom, chuck(CNibbana), or jim (shoes59)
bigtom 09-28-2002, 04:28 AM the computer senses the timing adjustment on obdII cars, so if you set the timing it should be with the consult tool. 15 is where it should be. in the jwt program i think there is something like 27-30deg spark advance. but this is all based on setting the timing to 15deg. advancing it anymore decreases power. 98sr20ve can back this up.
