I have been searching the wide tire threads and can't get a clear answer for my application. I have a 92 B13 with KYB AGXs and Falken Hanabi rims with 205x50-15 Falken Azenis tires. There is some light rubbing on the perch of the rear strut. I purchased some used 225x45-15 R6 Hoosiers that I plan on using for track days. I know it might be a bit much but I am motivated to get them to fit.
I know I will need to roll the fenders and probably get some spacers for the rear. I want to get another set of rims for the Hoosiers so I can swap the Azenis' out at the track, and then swap them back to go home. I am looking for rim recommendations for the Hoosiers. I have the 11" Wilwood/Fastbrake kit up front so the rims will need to clear the larger rotors and calipers. Right now I am leaning towards the 949 Racing 6UL rims. The Hanabi rims are about 11lbs, and I am looking for something of similar weight. If anyone has any experience with this setup then please share. I am also looking for what size spacers would be best to clear the AGXs.

Let me cut/paste from the "205+ wide tire thread", my old post. the 225/45/15 hoosiers were meant to be used on a 7" tire, so I don't see a need to go any wider as it will screw with your fitment in the rear and just add unsprung weight.

I decided to go with the 949 Racing 6UL 15x8.

The fronts fit with a little rubbing with the wheel fully turned. The rears are rubbing and will need spacers. In fact, there are some marks on the stuts where the Falkens were rubbing a little but not bad. The center caps do not fit on the 949 Racing rims. The axle sticks out too far and it pops off.

Great choice, 6ULs are excellent wheels!
What offset did you end up using?

+36 offset
I think that is the only offset they have for the 15x8 6ULs. I had to get 15mm spacers on each side in the rear to get them to fit. The fronts are fine with no spacers. The body would rub on the tires during hard cornering so I had to roll the fenders.

The pic says it all about how wide a 225 Hoosier is. They are so much wider than most other R compound 225's and look gigantic next to 205 street tires. Nice!

Not with the spacers and rolled fenders.

how much stud is left with the 15mm spacers? i'm guessing not much because i had a set of 10 mm spacers and that was the limit i would run before extended studs.

I couldn't tell you because the spacers came with extended studs. For safety's sake, I would recommend using extended studs with spacers. It is awfully embarrassing when your wheels fly off on the highway.

Got some Hoosier SM6s. They are pretty much the same as the R6s except they are made from a compound that is suppose to last a bit longer. The SM6s are about $50/tire cheaper than the R6 in the same size. The SM6 only comes in P205/50ZR-15. As you can see from the photo, the Hoosier P205/50ZR-15 is a tab bit larger than same sized Azenis. I found the 225 R6s to be a bit too much for my car. It would limit my straight away speed and was killing my forearms in the turns since I am not running power steering. Although the grip of the 225 did feel really great in the corners, I think the 205 is a much better all around choice. Also, I doubt I could fit brand new 225s without some rub. The ones in my original post where used and barely getting by without rubbing.
