: Clutch Resistence

So there are a few things going wrong with my clutch. The first one is that when I release the clutch it's not giving me very much resistance, and if I move my foot fast enough the clutch will pause for a second before coming all the way back up. However, compressing the clutch pedal is giving me a workout and hurting my foot. It's gotten to be below freezing, and I thought this may be the cause, but even when the car is warm it still is doing the same thing.

The second thing is that I really have to hammer the clutch to the floor to be able to start the car. I'm thinking this may be an issue with the clutch starter switch, but I'm not sure.

Also, how long does it normally take to stretch out the cable? I adjusted mine about a month and a half ago, maybe two months, but it's right back to where it was. It may be because I'm getting so much resistence with the clutch.

I have been having the same problem with my clutch for aboaut 4 years. Does your clutch feels crunchy or something is grinding? After 2 clutch cables I found out that its my clutch bracket. Its the one that holds the clutch cable attach to the tranny. I just replaced mine and the cable as well. Now mine feels like Im driving a brand new car. Either that or you have a messed up clutch bearing.

Sounds like the cable.had the same problem *** my 200sx.replace the cable before u snap it.buy it from nissan.seriously if u wanna relace an aftermarket cable every year.its a little bit of a bitch to do. Dress up warm remove ur battery, tray and intake, pull aside battery wires and tray boxes.pry the clutch fork forward with a pry bar remove cable from fork.go inside the car and remove panel underneath your steering wheel and kick panel.reach to the left top side of the clutch pedal. You will feel a hook with the cable on it. Unhook it ,go back under the hood with a 12mm ratchet with a 12 inch extension or longer unbolt the one bolt metal bracket that is on the cable itself not the one that is supported by four bolts.right under the cylinder resavoir , you should be able to see the one 12mmbolt. After unbolting the bracket. Start pulling and manuvering the cable and it will eventually slip out. Before installing the new one,get some motorcycle chain grease with syringe and inject as much of that shit as possible in the cable itself.route the cable in the engine bay.make sure cable goes between the 2 hoses.use a coat hanger and tie around the end of the cable that goes to the clutch pedal and snake it through the firewall and pull cable through and connect it to clutch pedal first. Once done slide cable throught the tranny bracket.take your pry bar and pry the clutch fork forward and rehook the conntector of the other side of the cable back on the fork. Rebolt the 12 mm 1 bolt bracket and put everything back together.lemme *** how it goes

If its that hard to push.. Its the clutch disc or pressure plate. The springs on the cheap clutch disc pop out of their retainers causing the pressure plate to not release.... Happened to me 4 times.. It also bends the clutch cable bracket.
