Leaving my GF's tonight I turned the lights on, they came on fine, but not more than 10 sec later they started to dim and flicker then they both went out at the same time. No low beams, no high beams. Dash lights still work, marker and tail lights still work. I just replaced both bulbs last week cause one burnt out, double checked connections on both bulbs, unplugged and plugged them back in, didn't change anything.

Also today when I first got in my car the speakers, just the speakers, not the radio, the radio worked fine, would not work unless I had my foot on the brakes, had the turn signal on, or had the headlights on. Shut the car off, turned it back on and problem went away. No such luck with the headlights. To me it's acting like I have a loose power wire some where.

Any ideas on where to start or if this is a somewhat common issue? I checked for loose rubbing wires under the dash and under the hood, but didn't see any.

Not that anyone cares, but my alt was putting out 19 volts blowing the bulbs and causing all my havioc. Rad exploded last week and took the alt with it I guess.

you have wires grounding off of each others...chase down and find with which wires are cooking before they melt and cook more wire....and double check fuses...make sure they are all the right amps...high amp can overload the system...

The cause was the alt, coolant got onto the alt when the rad exploded and fried the voltage regulator, it was putting out 19V causing headlights to blow and all my other wierd electrical issues. I replaced the alt and everything is fine now.
