Can anyone tell me the process of a Nevada Smog check on OBD1 car? When bringing the car from CA to NV. Any help would be appreciated.

I worked in nevada for a little bit. The emissions test seemed really quick and simple. Guy would scan your vin (doubt 94 car has the bar code) so he'd type it in. Then he would stick the sniffer in the tail pipe for a few minutes and be done. This was about 5 years ago, things might have changed since then.

It depends where you register it.

If you live in Clark County (Vegas area) or Washoe County (Reno/Tahoe/Carson City) the registration porcess involves a VIN verification and a quick tail pipe check, super easy and cheap.

If you live in a smaller town/county theres alot of ways to make your resgistration super cheap and they do not have a smog requirement at all!!!

Cool thanks. They don't pop the hood? All it has to do is pass sniffer test.
Were coming to Las Vegas...

they pop the hood but not for a visual.... and I think thats only for the VIN verification...

The smog stations in Vegas look like telephone booths with a sniffer attached. You just pull up, pay and split....

I love Nevada :D

I used to live near Reno and I visit Vegas about 2-3 time/yr.

I live in SoCal again now, but I will mostly likely go back once I finish school if I can find a good job anywhere out there.

My experience in Washoe County (probably same as Clark County) is that they do check for smog equipment (cat, Egr, etc. whatever your emissions sticker says its supposed to have) and then do a sniffer test. They don't check for functionality of equipment like in Cali. Pretty low key,but you do have to look legit under the hood/car. Good luck with the move!

How hard is the sniffer test?

does anyone know what they are testing for?

does anyone know what the max output for emissions?

Moving in a couple weeks to Las Vegas, NV.

Any cool car meets or events happening?

just look at it this way, any car sold in CA is 50 state smog legal. any car sold anywhere else you bring to CA you have to make sure it meets our standards(i.e. the SMOG NAZI). our smog laws are the mostr stringent in the whole nation. i hate it.

Yes I will be there. Should be the only silver Pulsar you see out there. Hit me up. My name is Josh. I just gotta get the car tuned first.
