I'm having a shop do my FMAX install on my 94 classic. They told me that the dumptube wont fit because it hits the downpipe. I asked them if they could turn the wastegate around so that the dumptube does not face the downpipe, and they said that if they do that, the dumptube would dump the hot air into the radiator. What do I do?

HUH??!!?? I have an fmax kit... and all of them have fit perfectly on the SR20... They are not doing something right... either that or you're using the wrong wastegate and the dumptube is flanged for a different wastegate... tell me what wastegate you are using...

Ahhh there we go... Identified your problem... The dumptubes are normally flanged for the Turbonetics wastegates and the only one that is compatible with that is Tial's 35mm...

bro, just go to any performance shop that does welding and they should be able to weld a dumptube that will work for you on it, you can drive it with the tumptube off for a little while just make sure the wastegate doesnt open up.....

The 35 and 40mm TiAl wastegates are completely different, and use different flanges for both the inlet and outlet (35mm is 2-bolt, 40mm is 4-bolt). There is no way your wastegate would even bolt up to the manifold or dumptube if they built it for the wrong wastegate. You must have some other problem. . You can't turn a 40mm TiAl around on the flange anyways, it will only go on one way.

Andris-
Exactly what I was trying to get at... Did I not make sense?? If not let me know seriously... I'd like to know if my mechanical language is good... ;)
Am I missing something or is the dumptube also the tube that bolts to the downpipe??

No, you were crystal clear, and I agree with you :) I just meant that he could never have even gotten that far if it was built for the wrong wastegate. Its not just the dumptube, the wastegate would never even go on the car in the first place!

okay this is what i did. i bought a 40 mm tial and fmax manifold flanged for the wastegate. i ordered an fmax 2.5" downpipe from apex motorsports. they asked me to send them my flange from my wastegate so they could have fmax make me a dumptube with my downpipe. so thats what i have, and it doesnt fit.

Some need a little coaxing. You are having problems with the silp fitting right? You should have a small 4 bolt dumbtube that bolts up to your Tial, try turning that thing around, mine will only fit one way, and it comes close, but doesn't fit, the other way.
Also try going at it with a grinder, i had to grind a little material off my downpipe hole to make the dumbtube slip in correctly. Get "innovative", good luck!
