okay, first night getting the car ready for the 24 hours of Lemons... did a compression test on our motor (which seem to run great but has 215,000 miles) and it's 120-122 across the board. the plugs looked great as well.
any thoughts other than it's a old and a bit tired motor???

That is pretty low, but it is interesting that the measurements were nearly equal between all cylinders. Is your gauge good? Did you follow the correct procedure? If you don't hold the accelerator pedal all the way down while cranking, you will read low. I would follow up with a leak down test.
