okay, since i'm building a cold air intake right now i was messing around with the hose that goes from the left side of the valve cover and goes to the primary on the cai. Well i dont know why i did this but for some reason i had to cut this hose in half. Anyway, inside this hose i pulled out this....

I dont know everything about engines and i was thinking that maybe this is there so that oil will be absorbed by the brush first before it flows down into the intake.

Anyone know if there's supposed to be nothing inthere?? I also was thinking that maybe one of the previous owners of my car had it cleaned out by a mechanic and his wire brush handle might have fallen off and he didnt bother taking it out.

OMFG I founf one of those in my NX too i thougth some idoit put that in, needless to say i took that rigth out.

It's supposed to be in there.. I discovered mine not to long ago. Like you, I am not sure what it is there for but my best guess would be to filter out the oil that may try to go to the intake pipe via that tube, i put mine back in. Hope this helps

well i guess i'm gonna put it back then. dont want any oil in my intake, that's for sure. it seems they would have used something more high-tech other than a wire brush. Oh well.
