thats a vvl the only diff. from a sr20ve and a sr20ve 20v is the valve cover the extra "20V" was *** a trim option

Better flowing head, one solenoid to trigger both intake & exhaust, drive by wire throttle, individual coils per spark plug, CAS trigger ignition instead of a distributor, 8 counterweight crank instead of the typical VE 4, cams were the most aggressive low lobe profile for stock VE motors, higher compression pistons..... as well as the valve cover. SR20VE 20V motors are extremely hard to find much less score one. Greg V was selling a few with trannies included in a package deal, motor & tranny brand new. The 20V head is the best flowing VE head stock, the exception being the N1 VE head which is ported and polished from the factory. Grab one of these 20V motors, swap in N1 cams, swap the 20V throttle body for an N1, replace the CAS trigger ignition and individual coils with a conventional ignition system and tune it. Easy 210-215 whp if not more. Andreas Miko has a 20V in his 94 SE-R making over 215whp untuned with the setup just mentioned.

good point..perhaps with those mods and some weight reduction u can hit 12's easily all motor.I'm looking for a 20v myself but I am on a waiting list at the local jdm motor shop..4 years ago a fellow member had one all done up and it was a early k hunter...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/thumpyls/100_0881.jpg

Yep, that's what I would do if I could find one..... Stock from the factory, this is as good as a NA SR20 gets to even challenge a K series. Good call on the weight reduction. May wanna throw in a 16VE tranny in the mix, that can work well with this setup.

Is this 6 speed box an lsd box?

They are open diff from the factory *(except for Autech Version was HLSD)*, but a SpecV HLSD goes straight into the box without dramas. 6 speed boxes are a prick to take apart compared to the stock 32 series box.

Id agree with the first part of this, but rival a K series? A Toyota K series yes. A Honda K series nope.

Nice engine an people are always looking for the CAS and coil packs i any one ever buys one. Selling thoes items could go a long way towards paying for some of the purchase price.

Check the Dash, the VEs there are gaining ground. 260whp from 2.3L, 12.3 1/4 NA. Cory's his name. We already know about the Ks potential but I was comparing stock to stock, K20 to 20V. Cory has full interior & shooting for 11s this year on DRs. There are VEs that crank out well over 220whp on just N1s & SR16 pistons with the usual boltons & these are not 20Vs. K series will always have the support & technology to keep them at the top but there are a few diehards that refuse to let the VE be left behind. Just imagine if the VE had as much R&D and aftermarket goodies as the K and was still being made today.

Yes thats true if Nissan put as many years into making VVL engines as Honda has made Vtec engines then yes they would be much closer. In my opinion though the 20V VVL engine isn't anywhere near what the K series engine is in stock form or modified. VVL is closer to the B series Honda engines or the H series.
But anyway thats not really what this thread was about.
