Hey guys, just bought a nx2000, which we call 100nx in norway :) it's awesome with a small and low weight car, with a sr20 engine :)

But I got one problem, the speedometer is waaaay off.. and it is not the rim size fault.. my winter tires are 14 inch, so it's pretty standard.. but when I'm going 60km/h, it is only showing 40.. is there a wire or something I should change, or is the fault in the speedometer itself...(if that is the case, I can easily get a new one) could be both I guess..

Any advice on what that is causing the problem?

how old is your 100nx ?

the models before 93 has a cable into your dashboard, and models after 93 has electronic speed sensor in your gearbox.

it is a 1991 model :) do I have to change that cable then? a mechanic told me the problem might be inside the actualy speedometer.. but I thought I'd ask here, since you peeps actually know what you are talking about :)

Find another dash first and see if its the speedo itself.... The cable driven one runs directly from the tranny to the speedo. If it was a problem with the cable it would not work at all. The sensor in the tranny should be the same for cable driven vs. electric which has a few versions..

speed sensor is easy to find...... Follow the cable coming out of the firewall down to the tranny...... Its what the cable screws into. How easy tochange depends on how much of a pita it is to get out. Your results may vary.......

ok, trying to find it, but I don't have alot of knowledge about engines and stuff :P So if anyone would be so nice to take a pic of where it is, I would be VERY grateful :)

look under the throttle body straight down onto the top of the tranny. the cable from the firewall comes out right by the accelerator cable.

Next to the brake master cylinder there are 2 cables coming out from the firewall. One is the accelerator cable that goes to the throttle body on the engine. The other cable is the speedometer cable that goes down to the tranny. I wish you no ill will, but if you still can't find it, seek more professional help......... Mike
