I have a 91 sentra xe. i've changed the ball joints/tie rods and passenger axle. the car makes this humming noise like those truck tires and i cant figure out whats causing it. when i changed all those things it stopped for awhile but still is doing it. My drive axle needs to be changed soon..could that be the problem...its torn open on the inside boot. i was told it could be rotors maybe since i did a 99 gxe rotor/caliper swap.

i dont want to let this car go cause i put alot of work into it but im hoping someone can help me out here.

Bingo.

the tires are new so it cant be the tires...i thought about the wheel bearings...but that would cause the wheels to shake? when i go slow its like the car kinda wants to wobble a bit. i've been told its not easy to change them wheel bearings.

the wheel bearing is probably so bad its causing it to wobble..if that's the case u better change it soon cause u don't want it to start wearing out the hub cause then your gonna have to change that too

How many miles does your car have? Have you ever replaced wheel bearings? I had a similar situation with the alot of vibration and stuff. Instead of just replacing the wheel bearings on the car, i replaced the hubs, got new seals, and had new bearings pressed in. Yeah, it was a bit pricey but I had no vibration or shaking. Hope this helps.

great...well i might end up having to change those too cause this is my only DD...and its not super bad right now but if i have to get hubs too then probably so cause it seems like that the bearings are so gone that maybe there not seated inside the hub.

but tell me this...i had the car jacked up and the right wheel was taken off, i had did a roll test and it didnt shake at first but when i turned the wheel right or left the right hub would stop rolling, gave it gas and it started shaking badly. changed the axle and at first i thought all was fine but probably the bearings from the constant shake is bad..is there a write up on how to change em or im better of just getting new?

its pretty hard to do it by yourself with a bearing press.. but try jacking up the car with wheels on and once the wheels are off the floor grab it and try rocking it from side to side and in and out then that way you can know for sure if the bearing is bad or something is loose

my freind checked both wheels off the ground and we rocked them both up and down side to side but they werent loose. as we let the car roll the wheels in gear the right wheel started shaking a bit but then stopped once sped up. we assumed the rim but it couldnt be because they were on my buddy's car and they didnt shake. i did hear a clacking noise..very minimel while it was rollin in the air.

when you say hub..are you talkin about the part that has the 4 bolts in it that hold the wheel or the part that attaches to the tie rod/ball joint/strut?

im talking about the piece that actually houses the bearing itself. did check to make sure everything is tight and nothing ion the suspension is worn out?

i've been its the bearings..because the wheel shakes a bit when it was up in the air when checked at a shop. So i have to get that right one replaced but i'll probably get both done to get out the way..thats gonna be a pian in the azz..but i'll figure out a way to get it done. thanks guys
