I was regapping my plugs yesterday...they are about 400 miles old. What I noticed was a little odd, and I'm still trying to figure it out in my head.
each of the plugs had some black residue on half of the ceramic surrounding the electrode. The residue was on the intake side, if you picture the plug sitting in the head. The other half was clean, still white, still pretty.
Anyway, what would cause this black stuff to accumulate on the intake side? Is it not getting burned away because of innacurate ignition timing? Does it just accumulate faster on the intake side because it doesn't have hot exhaust gasses flowing by it? What gives?
