Im looking at building an SR20VET:

SR16VE Block/Head/Cams
DE/DET Crank
DET Rods
DET Pistons
VVL Metal Head gasket
650cc Injectors (with AFPR)
T25/T28 Turbo

Can i run a standard SR20DET ECU with a AFPR and a Greddy MSS for this setup?

Is the SR20DET ecu to engine bay loom same/interchangable as standard SR20DE?

What is the max psi i could run with this setup/turbo? for T25 and T28?

And what sort of power would this setup put out?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Yes to the bold. If all your going to use is a T25 or T28 why bother with the VVL head? The turbo don't flow enough to merit the use of the VVL head. You will get the same results with a normal DE head.

what would you recomend?

T3T4 GT35?

If u can afford the T3/T4 I say go for it. it won't make a lot of heat like the smaller turbo will. Try and find VET pistons since ur going into the motor. With those pistons it will give you better cam choices instead of been stuck with SR16's been the biggest you can run on the DET piston.

if ur going to use the SR16VE cam shafts in a SR20VET cylinder head ur going to need to change the rocker arms on the exhaust side to be able to use these cam shafts

the sr20VET doesnt have VVL on the exhaust side of the cylinder head so u will also need the sr20 or sr16ve rocker arms to make the VVL work on the exhaust cam

also if ur going to use SR16 cam shafts u beta use a big mother ****er of a turbo because that cam shaft has a huge amount of duration and overlap

also i personally think ur wasting ur time with the standard sr20det pistons and rods ur better of just upgrading them while ur doing the cylinder head conversion
save urself time and money and do it right the 1st time

He said SR16VE Block/Head/cams.

SR20?

sounds like some money is bout to get dumped in that engine...

sounds like some money is bout to get dumped in that engine...

eventually... im a student at the moment so i dont have the biggest income.
i have an SR16VE motor lying around, it ran a bearing so i decided to use it for something.
this is gana be a side project that im going to try and keep a watch out for the parts.
it will probably take a while before i have it all up and running but i wanted to get some questions answered in case i come up on some deals i dont want to pass up.

so what about the ECU, AFPR, and Greddy MSS?

so you think i should go forged?

if ur going over 420whp it would be a good idea.

Yes you just need to tune the ecu and it will be fine.

I have some sr16 pistons, and i was thinking... if im going to use as a daily driver (little boosting) i wold like a high comp so i get good power out of each combustion and good fuel usage, but want the turbo when i need it.

so if this brings my compression upto 11.7:1 (running new rings and metal gasket) what sort of psi (max) could i run on the turbo?

Thanks

VE head with 2.0 bottom end and SR16 pistons = 13.X compression ratio. You could run a bigger turbo and not have to boost much doing it like that. I don't know how strong the SR16's are in a boosted car. The tune will have be spot on so they live.
