i just bought a 93 se-r and i try to put car in first gear and i just grinds ,like the clutch isnt pushed in , but i can put the car in second gear and all is normal , i drove the car home from the purchase place leaving the stops in second gear, . so basically you push the clutch in put car in first gear and start to let clutch out and it starts to grind " would this be shifter bushings not letting the trans go into first gear or a bent shifter fork, and yes this trans has the 5th gear issue too , can anyone guide me in the right direction .. thanx marc :(

replace the tranny and since you got it open put a nice new clutch in like a stage 2 save yourself the headache and just get new :biggthump

are talking about a new trans or new clutch or both ? how much will that cost?

both, look around here on the forum and im sure u can find a good working tranny with working 5th gear for around 3-400 bucks for a non lsd trans and go on ebay for the clutch u can find a nice quality clutch for like 250-350 for the whole clutch kit , i maen u might not need to change the clutch but i had almost the same thing happen to my tranny and i just replaced it had never had another problem with it
