i know ill probably get flamed for asking this, but if i could get an extremely cheap sr20ve or sr16ve bottom end, could it bolt to a de head? what comp ratio would it have? what would be the most aggressive cams for it

remember, im not asking if adding a de head would be beneficial to a ve motor, im asking if a ve block would be an asset to a de. It makes sense to me that the compression would go up, the rotating assembly would be lighter(possibly balanced?) a superior oil pump design. am i not seeing something here? help me out.

PLEASE DONT SAY JUST GET A VE OR VE IS BETTER, I KNOW THAT. IM SIMPLY ASKING IF A VE BLOCK WHICH IS VERY CHEAP, CAN BE MATED TO A DE HEAD WHICH WE ALL HAVE STOCK.

thanks for the help

thats a good question, Can you bolt it on? Yes! but there is an oil passage you will have to plug, its the one for the vvl solenoids.. just get something Like this:

to plug that oil hol in the top of the block

now, i dont know about the compression.. but i assume it would be near what the vvl block you got has.. i dont think i would attempt using a 16ve block.. altho it sounds like a good idea i think the compression would be to high to run a stock ecu..

i'd use the 20ve bottom end, that way its a 2.0 still, and you can more then likely use the stock ecu, with maybe a safc for fine tuning..

and as for the cams, again im not sure, from what i remember the sr20de an ve have different valve angles, so im not sure if the valves would clear the pistons if runnin larger then stock cams, an for that matter i dont know if the stock cams would clear either, but i assume so since you can put a ve head on a de block..

i too would like to know more about this! not cause i'd doit, but its nice to know things..
