as im doing let say about 50mph, i notice that that my starts to act funny..The rpm reads about 2 then all of the sudden it jumps to 2.2 then drops at 2 again. This process happens basically the whole drive..Has anyone had this kind of problem and might know what it`s causing it...

fyi: your car isn't idling when your moving

more than likely it's a tach issue... they like to jump around...

if it was a tac issue it would happen at different rpms as well, so your wrong but nice try anyway..

how the hell does your car idle while you're doing 50mph? idle occurs when you're stopped sir. regardless i have this same issue from time to time when my car is idling at a stop light or ina parking spot etc.

So, does your car slow down then speed back up as the tach needle moves down and back up?

it could be your distributor. change the cap and rotor first and see if the revs get better

yes i feel the difrence when the rpm acts up....i feel it jerk a bit then it goes back to normal...i wonder if it`s the transmission acting up on me???

nah that wouldnt be a tranny issue.

Unless it's an automatic, it can't be the transmission (it could be a slipping clutch but you'd see that happen as you stepped harder on the gas).

I would guess that the problem is something in the fuel system. Ignition tends to work 100% or fail 100%.

Have you done regular maintenence items like changing the fuel filter in the last 50,000 miles, making sure the MAF is correctly grounded, etc?

The tough part is tracking down the issue - do you have a Consult cable so that you can run ECU Talk or a similar program to show you what the ECU is seeing from the sensors as you drive?

i do not have a consult cable, but would a mechanic have one at the shop??? My transmission is also an automatic..Fuel filter was changed and maf is working fine....

My bet is the automatic transmission.

When's the last time it had a fluid / filter change and how many miles are on it?

nah i say its a mis-fire issue probably needs a tune up or somthing my shitty honda does it at 3-4k rpm while im cruising on the highway itll buck and as i hit the gas itll go awau not no clutch issue or other bs like that *** give it a tune up maybe a compression check ignition timing check could even be a fuel problem clean your injectors try every easyh way to fix it before you get into bigger jobs like a clutch

the transmission was rebuilt about and 1year ago....Maybe this might help, I have the sr20de head, gtir turbo manifold, disc potatoe turbo,S3 cams, nismo yellow top fuel injectores, 255 fuel pump, jim wolf ecu, 300zx maf, jgy intercooler kit, koyo raditor, kgy wires....Also just had a head job done to it....yea and the car is auto...not manual...

woah.. ok you never stated it was turbo before that opens up a huge number of possiblities.. my best guess is a tune.. somthing with it probably isnt right depends on if your running rich or lean guarantee its throwin to much fuel at a certain point while cruising.. so next time a little more info on whats in it would help us alot more..

and btw.. you need to get rid of that slush box and swap it to a 5speed

If the revs go up but the speed doesn't go up when the issue happens, it's the transmission.

If the revs go up and the speed goes up, it's an engine issue.

Hm.. not to thread jack.. but my auto sentra (with CAI, header, exhaust, 91 cam, cam timing, 19 degrees advanced timing) does this.. but its more common in lower rpms, and sometimes while idling.. it seems to drop to 1,800, then goes back up to 2,000 (something like that), engine speed doesn't really change dramatically, usually after slowing down. Started happening after I installed the 91 cam and changed the intake cam timing to + 3-5 degrees..

i also wonder if air/fuel mixtures are right...i have heard some people complain about the jim wolf ecu.....saying that there car is to lean....could this also be a issue that my car is facing???
