^^^I agree with you as they are not presenting undeniable proof that the sentras are dominating PTD, PTE, PTF

I sent Greg some summarized information about SER's and their results from the midatlantic and the great lakes regions showing that in fact, the sentra was having trouble winning races and he didn't care. He made up his mind to add weight to the car at the 2009 nationals.

Well I'm glad I could cause such a ruckus! (I think you meant 2008 Nats though, 2009 was won by a RX-7 that was later disqualified for over-hp. Same guy that finished 2nd in 2008)

I've been reading all the nasaforum stuff and it's been quite entertaining. Some other things I noted on the '10 rules changes, Neons lost between 25&75lbs depending on the model. One of the main Sentra-Haters in Great Lakes Region is a SOHC Neon guy. I won't say he's a hater, but really has used me as his measuring stick to gauge his car's lack of performance.

While I agree this change was uncalled for, I will let a secret slip that I've always run pretty close to this weight.... I have a totally stock fuel tank and I'm not sure how well it picks up under low fuel, so I always fill the tank completely before the session. I will add maybe 15lbs or so this year and just run closer to the minimum than I have before.

If I were the director though, I would ask these complainers, are they really running their car on the limit of the rules? Are they using all the available no-point modifications? Is the chassis setup properly for each track? Is the driver actually any good? If not, then don't even ask for competition adjustments, because someone is just going to roll in that can drive and prepare the car properly, and clean up shop.

Let's think of the positives here though, we've had a weight increase so no one can b!t@h for the next year or 2, and now if you run, say, 2525lbs, you can make 164whp! That is easily achieveable and in fact that is right where I am at.

While I'm again limited financially this year as to how many races I can run, I will still make the best of it and try to bring home some SE-R golds!

HI, Steve. Thanks for checking in. I used your name in vain on the NASA forums. Hope you don't mind.;)

And I DID mean the 2009 nationals. The guy that stirred the SER pot was driving a B15 SER with lots of weight and lots of horsepower (found legal on the dyno).

The crying shame is that most of the haters are coming from spec series and their cars aren't built all that close to the rules.

When I did all of my weight adding recently, I realized that I did't need to add all that much. With the 1 pt of weight reduction that I have available, I can now run at 2501 lbs and I never weighed less than about 2480 last year so I'll really only be adding about 30 lb.

The guy has a B15 and they are making competition adjustments to B13's? Does it even have an SR20? And he didn't win PTE, what class did he win at Nationals? I'm starting to see why you think this is so fishy...

Steve, he won TTE. It wasn't even a race class.

The problem is he pulled one of the guys that makes the rules on the straight that was driving an RX8 TTD car. The TTD guy still had faster lap times but raised a stink about the power.

The point is that soon after all of this NASA came out with the +50 for the "SER". Harper had to email the national PT director and tell him that they were different engines and diffent chassis but he wouldn't back off the decision.

Saw this old thread, thought i would point out that at 164 and 2525, you would be at 16.496, which is PTD, ie you need to add some weight to fall into PTE at that power level ;-) (you need to add one lb to be legal for PTE ;-)

and as scott knows, you can't count on dynos being consistent, need to leave at least 5 hp of leeway to be safe

A bunch of mathmaticians in here I swear!!!

I think my dyno was actually 162 and I weighed 2525ish coming off the track, for the record.

I left more than 5 lbs of leeway and got DQ'd earlier this season anyway. So, I bumped my HP down with a different set of cams to gain even more leeway. Then everyone else got dyno reclassed and I went from fighting it out for first in every race to barely hanging on the lead group. I had a Honda that I was dead even with earlier in the year drive by me like i was standing still.

that gives you a little lee-way.........soctt's experience this year has made me very conservative with my dyno/weight #s now:biggthumpA bunch of mathmaticians in here I swear!!!
