: Weight of a 98 SE at track
98sr20ve 09-21-2002, 12:59 PM I just thought you would all be interested in what my 98 Se weighted at the track last night. I took the rear seat out (both top and bottom), Spare tire, Seat belts in back, and front seat out. For some reason I forgot about the jack so it was in there still. It also has F+R STB, and a rear Stillen sway bar, BABK, Maxima rear brakes and a standard type stereo. I have a sunroof and power everything. Like that it weighed 2485. That just 60lbs or so heavier then my friends Classic with similar weight reducing mods but none of my STB's and upgraded sway bars and brakes.
NavySkycop 09-21-2002, 09:27 PM So I guess you made it up to the track on Fri? How did that stuff go? I was really wanting to make the trek, but I didn't get off work soon enough. You should try and make it to Langley one night for the 1-on-1 stuff. You would probably walk most of those people. (By the way this is Robb, the guy with the red B15 at Pungo a couple of weeks ago.)
98sr20ve 09-21-2002, 09:43 PM We had a good time. Had a decent group of people, As always the sub-8sec cars broke alot and slowed things down. I ran a 14.622 @ 95.33 on my street tires. I don't think I will ever run side to side in the turns with people I don't know and trust. Are you going to Pungo in two weeks? PM me or aim me. My aim is sr20vesentra.

98sr20ve: Nice car :)
Not counting the ve, what kind of mods do you have? Do you have a website?

This is with stock cams, Fujitsuba header, 2.5-inch exhaust, home made C.A.I., MSD ignition and a Nismo Fuel Pressure Regulator JWT ECU. So basically, I,H,E, the MSD is purely for Redline control, the Nismo FPR gave me 10 whp on the dyno. Sr16 cams will go in very soon and should get me 190+ whp.
CarbonBlack200 09-29-2002, 01:52 AM I would try to reduce wheel weight. (tires/ brakes/ suspension) If you take a pound off from your wheel, that will be worth as taking 15lbs off the vehicle. Which means if your wheels are 1 pound lighter, Your car will perform like your car is 60lbs lighter (15lbs x4). Volk racing TE37/SE37, BBS, SSR, and are ultra light weight, but they are usually extremely expensive. Kosei K1s are one of the least expensive light weight wheels and they are also good quality.

I am running 205/50/15's on some rota C8's. The wheels only weigh 12.5 pounds. I just bought some Kosie K1's for my track tires (ecsta v700's). I am gong to try the Kosie Ectsta combo at the track next time. See how they work just for kicks. I think the Kosie's actually weigh a bit more then the Rota's. I will check when they get here on monday. Kosies are wider and have a aluminum hubcentric ring that wont melt at the track.
99SE-L 10-01-2002, 10:15 PM holy shit 14.6 with those mods?
I ran a 15.8@88 in my 99 se with pr cai, hs headers, greddy catback, ur pulleys, 19degree timing, synthetic 0w30 motor oil with no spare tires and jack.
damn i'm pissed!!!!
99.se.ltd 10-01-2002, 10:31 PM did you forget he has the VE?
98sr20ve 10-01-2002, 11:18 PM I promise next time it will be under 14.5 and MAYBE 96 mph. It should be 14.2 but babysteps for me in this 1/4 mile world.
99SE-L 10-02-2002, 12:18 AM oh yea that's rite
his name says it all
damn and i *** like wtf. i'm going to bring my car in for inspection
so is the sr20ve faster than a sr20det with stock boost? Since I assume they both make 195 hp but the ve makes more low end power.

DET has way more torque then a ve because it makes it's power lower in the rev range. I made 180whp and I know a sr20det in a RWD silvia that made 175ish with the basic I/E work That means if a FWD car he would have 185 whp or maybe a little more (more drivetrain losses in a rwd car). His HP peak is 6200 rpm with a super flat tq and Hp curve, Mine just steadly climbs till 7200rpm and then tappers off but does not really fall away much until 7800rpm when I hit redline. Ultimately I think a det and a ve are similiar in the same car. The det is just a short mod away from being faster on the 1/4 mile. Keep in mind that my VE stock should run 14.2 if I could just get my launch right.
