No one sells exhaust kits for the NX. You'll need to get it custom made. Pick your muffler, get a Thrush glasspack for a resonator and depending on the condition/age of your catalytic convertor, a replacement. Have a shop connect it all with a custom b-pipe.

This is my custom catback setup. Like steve said, a Dynomax Thrush Glasspack resonator (24" long, 2.25" inner diameter), a Nismo-Borla muffler, and custom bent 2.25" aluminized piping. The car in on a lift in the picture, right in my friend's Meineke shop.

Glasspack: $25
Muffler: (came with car, your results may vary)
Piping and Labor: $80
Not sounding like a riceboy: Priceless!

Nissan Motorsports 2002 catalog still shows that the rear section Borla is still available doesn't it? You would still have to get a custom mid-pipe made.

Why not just use a Courtesy B pipe? MarC in Jersey has one on his 93NX and it works fine. Anyway, the stock B pipe is not a restriction with just bolt ons. Rob Cadle did some dyno testing a while back and that was what he said.

I agree, why not just get the courtesy b-pipe. I wish I could hear it before I decided to make the purchase. My egg will need an exhaust sometime in the near future.

As far as a muffler goes, does anyone know how the Borla rear section sounds on the NX2000? Nismo sells one for like $280...for the price, it better sound good, not ricey. I wonder how a combo of the Courtesy B-pipe and the nismo/borla rear section would sound. That has always been my plan, but I do NOT want to sound like a riceboy. :D

I've had one for about a year now (used... it's about 5 years old). It sounds deep, throaty, and definitely not "ricey." It's actually pretty quiet with the stock mid-pipe, but definitely louder than stock. But for the price, I wouldn't recommend it at all (mine was a "donation.") Unless they've made any changes over the years, the muffler only has a 2" inlet/outlet... At the base of the tip, there's a little restrictor donut-looking thing that necks down to about 1" to cancel out noise. You're better off just getting a universal Borla or Dynomax muffler, and have a muffler shop weld it on.

RollcageSR20 is right. Your better off buying a universal Borla turbo and getting a shop to do the rest.

BUT, I had a Borla rear section on my old '91 NX2000 and absolutely LOVED it. Bought it from Stillen back in '96. It was made by Borla, same as the Nismo-Borla rear section. That was a great set-up on my car and I had a 2" custom mid-pipe made for mine. Had no resonator, but coulda used one. The car sounded great!

If still available, the Borla system # is 11406 for the NX2000 rear section.

If the Courtesy b-pipe fits and has a resonator, I would say go for it.

I have had the borla rear section since I've owned the car an I too like it a lot. Andrew, is there anyway to remove that donut restrictor thing without cutting the tip off?

Your guess is as good as mine. I've been wondering how to remove it as well. I remember Ian mentioned on the mailing list something about trying to remove it. I don't know if he actually did it or not.

Read my original reply regarding the sound.

As for purchase, you could buy it through Courtesy Nissan in Texas; their website is http://www.courtesyparts.com or you could purchase through Nismo Parts at http://www.nismoparts.com. There is also Mossy Nissan in Oceanside, CA; http://www.mossyperformance.com. Those are the only places I am aware of where you can buy the parts, though there are definitely other places which I am not aware of.

Been there, done that! It is tack welded in. You have to heat the shit out of it and yank it out! It can be yanked out after you burn the tac welds.

Look under "Exhaust Systems".

Mine did not have that. I believe that was on the earlier versions of the Borla rear sections. I had one on the old '91 NX2000 as stated earlier from '96, had it replaced under warranty in approx. '98-'99 and also had a universal Borla Turbo on my G20 for a while and all 3 did not have the donut plate.

Has anyone given thought to getting a group buy started on a custom b-pipe for our NX? First we'd have to find a shop which can mandrel bend and is willing to make a bunch. Second, they'd need a stock b-pipe.

Third, whatever they create would still need some muffler shop work as the "two ends" would have to be connected to the remainder of the custom setup which would vary by person.

I imagine once the basic shape is down they could do any size. Also, aluminized or stainless.

Just a thought.

Is'nt the b-pipe from the sentra was the same?

I thought the only difference was the rear section?

If so wouldn't a sentra midpipe work with a nx rear section?

I agree on the borla and the dynomax mufflers they do sound really good, and sound mean as hell if u have a turbo and u get on it. But does anyone know about the apex mufflers and the silencers that go in them. Do they really quite it down? Actually the one i was lookin at was the turbo muffler, the one with the three inch inlet and like a 3.5 outlet i think, i just want a nice lookin muffler with as little sound as possible with a 3 inch exhaust and a glasspack w/ no cat. but if i mean business just take out the silencer and lets go play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the smaller n1 by apexi on my crx w/straight 21/4 piping, no cat and a dc sports stainless hedder. I think it sounded tough as hell. The silencer makes a pretty noticable difference in sound. They claim like 7db, with it in i think it sounded better. A little loud but who cares if you dont have a cat then you should expect it to be loud.

My friend had one on his se-r a while back and it sounded good.
