Things will soon be starting to do my engine rebuild. my head, cams, and pistons have been located, and just now soon be giving payment and there all mine!! this is my first engine rebuild, but i have some help to point me in the correct direction, anyways here will be the set up.

SR16VE head with SR16VE Cams.
Port Polish and a Light Skim of the head.
Regrind in the valves - BY HAND!! (If it takes longer then so be it, my bro in law is helping me out and he says this is best to do it especially since it will be high compression. )
SR20DE bottom end with it lightly skimmed!
SR16VE Pistons
SR20DE crank.
SR20VE Oil Pump
New Rings, with Cylinders honed out.
New bearings and shells.
new chain, and guides!
Standard Nissan Gasket

I will prob need more stuff but i am still researching but i am getting there!

Anyways for the run in, i will be doing the following (i know some people think this may be extensive but a few people have all said the same, would be worth it).

First start up so far looks like i will need mineral oil. so....this is the table.

0-100 Miles - will use mineral oil - Wont be taking the car over 30mph - Then oil and filter change (Will be speaking to the oilman i think about what oils to use)
100-400 miles - With new oil - Wont be taking the car over 30MPH. low rev run in - then oil and filter change
400-800 miles - with new oil - still low revs, so keeping below 3k rpm, but not going over 40mph - then an oil and filter change
800-1100 miles - with new oil - still below 3k revs but higher speeds to about 50mph - Oil and Filter change
1100-1500 miles - with new oil - still below 3k revs, but doing some 60mph driving, perhaps go and see wezz in the boro? - home and oil and filter change
1500-2500 miles - with new oil - Planning a nice drive to dorset, so 70 mph driving, which is just a baw hair over 3k rpm. we are looking to go to Monkey world so will be a nice drive - Home with a new oil and filter change.
2500 - with new oil - Hoping for the ECU to be tuned at this stage, Going fora Dastek chip with a rev limit of 8000 rpm,

An oil change will then be done every 3k miles, with this i should have a bloody good and bloody fast daily driver, and engine should be good to about 200,000 miles (means the clock will show 400,000 on it haha). most of the engines like will be normal driving, just occasionally the additional lobes will come into play, but will have fun when they do.

I am worried about one thing though, i know the fuelling wont be right untill its tuned, it will be getting done at Dastek, Would this engine be fine untill its ran in to the 2500k?? any recommendations for it?? i have heard possible retard the timing??

Also i am not sure what block to use, Wether to use the Primeras current bottom end? (191k miles) or use my girlfriends old GTi engine? (112k miles). both engines run perfectly!!

Any other recommendations and suggestions are welcome.

body work will be done this year also and restored, it will be a standard looking primera but hopefully kicking around 200BHP i will be happy.

Also what main bearings are best to use for the stock bottom end DEH, Any benefits of fitting GTiR ones??

wouldnt bother with all that man, far far too much oil being used there.... once the engine is built do maybe 100 miles make sure everything is alright drop the oil and filter put in your new oil of choice, go get it mapped and have at it.... :)

Don't forget to plug the bottom of the VE head where the oil feed would be on the VE block and hook up a external oil feed to the head.

i agree with this the way i see it you break a motor in slow it will be slow ya take it ez for a 100 miles or sumthing and let her have it. i just bought a g20t from an old lady it probably never seen past 3500rpm in its life and the thing is dead. the rings will seat within the first couple trips to operating temp then let er buck or itll be slow i guarentee you.. but thats just my opinion

I am hoping for some nice figures, if i get 200BHP ATF i will be happy.

I might bring the running in back to 1000 miles, it might be a bit extreme, i just want this engine to be as smooth at 100k miles as it will be at first start up, I dont rag it constantly but i have my moments.

What bearings are recommended? Also with the fuelling being shit whats the best thing to do with the running in as it will be hitting the dyno when ran in for a tune

1000 miles is still too much man, you may want the engine to last for another 100,000 miles but I garuntee that you wont have the car then ;)

the rings will seat in the first 40-50 miles or so, if you go easy on them for 1000 miles they wont be as effective as soon as you start going to 8k...

Curious to why your asking advice if your building your own engine I am clueless. Seems like you already have a plan.

its my first ever rebuild, I just want to get as much information as possible, I dont want stuff going pop all becuase i missed something simple.
